Hey Guys,
Just bought my first (and sure to not be last) LC about three weeks ago! Just wanted to say that I'm impressed with the comfort, civility and surprising off-road prowess a 17-year old LC possesses! What a machine! I learned early on that Japanese engineering is unsurpassed as far as durability and ingenuity but I never thought I would someday own the pinnacle of Toyota's efforts in an SUV (besides maybe its LX sister). I'm here-by relying on said praise as it is now my DD and has over 200K on the clock so hopefully with the proper maintenance and love it will last another 200K in my possession. It was a one-owner vehicle and now has 207K miles to be exact. Pretty clean inside-the leather is in good shape and the exterior isn't perfect (with lots of rock chips and a couple dings) but nothing I wouldn't expect from a vehicle of this vintage that was probably a mom-mobile for its entire life. Its a 2000 model without the rear diff lock but has maintenance records (all at the dealer) from new. Just had the timing belt and water pump replaced with Aisin parts as part of my "purchase agreement". Before you ask-and just because I know I will be asked-I paid $6750 for her. I'm starting with the basics as far as maintenence and just changed the oil and filter with M1 5-30 Syn and M1 filter. Thanks to this website I have already replaced a couple burnt out HVAC panel lights and are back at full illumination! I also just want to say that this site has been a tremendous source of knowledge as I have poured over countless threads detailing maintenance procedures as well as future enhancement projects I have in mind. So, thank you all for all of that-I love it here at mud. I have ordered Amsoil front/rear diff and transfer case fluid and will change next weekend (when the gf is out of town
) as well as drain and fill transmission fluid with M1 syn (I've read about the drain 3 quarts/add 3 quarts x5 method and will try that). Got some Amsoil grease to try and remedy the "thunk" noise, too. Also, have some new Denso spark plugs and touch-up paint for all the rock chips ordered. Ok Ill stop for now-cheers!
