Anyone know the best source for a set of firewall grommets. From what I can tell on my 1962 FJ40 the two large are 46mm and the three smaller ones are about 26mm. Does that sound about right?

Matt you da man

I have every OEM TOYOTA Genuine Parts grommet size spec covered from 9mm - 46mm in single steps millimeters increments solid blanking type

- some exceptions to the rule would be my FJ40 fuel tank sending unit access hole grommet , and the new recent release , 90950-01023 , FJ40 76-84 upper windshield frame OVAL washer nozzle and washer blue tint hose access port or cavity ,

- however , the FJ40 DISC/ NLA Fuel Tank Drain and Service Plug Grommet is indeed a TOYOTA GENUINE Part from the NON-USA far away that iis the

original
Millimeters size spec , correct OD for that particular hole on the floor pan ,

- i just took it upon myself to re-purpose it for OUR needs here in the 40 and 45 series community ..

- it's our little dirty secret toyota has several different part #'s for the exact same exact parts , for reasons we can discuss in another thread , not to get chatty matty off the tech topic at hand ..........

- some of my solid ones also have a solid yet thin membrane center toyota used for optional applications like side marker lamps

Some markets have them some don’t so u simply use a #2 semi sharp pencil ✏️ and poke the center out as desires in the field . , shop or service dept. dealership setting to install optional or upgrade OEM assys or general parts such as sun. Harness sections or plumbing 🪠 of one type or another …

- Below are the 26mm options I have :

- on RH side is a solid grommet , no membrane option …

- the ones on the LH side are the soft center membrane type inside the round demarcation ring line small hole or wider the membrane type can be poked smaller or wider accordingly within the inner diameter of the thin ring feature

- some say soon I plan a grommet , plug and related tech video

- much like toyota OEM bolts and nuts the 90480- and. 90950- Part # last 5 digits prefix is a extremely hard to understand coding system to spell out in English the OD size of it itself / the ID of the sheet metal hole itself it’s designed to plug , fill , seal up from cold air and mice 🐭

I hate mice with a passion I have had to deal with nibbled on wires and also nests that baby’s die and stink like the walking dead corps on AMC
On a hot summer day ….

So we plug and grommet 1000% of anything even the orange gas peddle boots I reproduced are mice proof silicon rubber material ..

Did I say I hate mice !

Especially JDM ones !!!

I like the post on grommets. but one of the most difficult to find is the grommet located in the floor of the fj 40 that protects the lead wires to the gas tanks sensor,. this grommet is shared by a driver side seat belt wire. also going through the grommet under the tub. Anyone know what number is or where to find this illusive grommet? 1977 early fj40

When it comes to those illusive 1977 early fj40 grommet's Tom i agree on there illusive in nature status that TOYOTA keeps them in .....
.
However , a good number of them are long since Disc. / NLA for more then 2-3 decades + or more as the Sands of TEq Time continue to re-wind ,

one day many years ago i got angry as a Copper Head snake on the Appalachian Trail that MICE were now calling the interior of my 2/80 FJ40LV-KCJA home and the front heater core and it's duct work was also where the Lady Mice who liked to sleep with all new Dude Mice's , were having new Litters of lots of baby Joey Mices ..........

it did not take long before i needed to pull on the FAN PULL knob out both detent clicks to HI speed up my 87104-60031 DENSO , well that is moment the heater core and the square black plastic DUCT inside become the WIZARD of OZ and send all the Mice young baby's and parents to big white fan blade
Slaughter House ( oddly called a Squirrel Cage ? ) ...

i took less then 24 hours to then call the inside of my hardtop 40 a Vomit-Comet No f'ing way you could deal with the Walking Dead road-kill in the hot summer sun on the side of the road smell that would make you Run Like a Antelope out of Control ....

The Mice had been using the dry rotted and partially missing orange Gas Pedal Accelerator boot as a wide open door to come and go for a good while i then discovered upon using my Dad's super high end Sherwin Williams paint scraper and a few kitchen cooking utensils to remove all the furry rancid mice-meat splattered all inside my blower motor box , between each of the 100+ Squirrel cage blower fan fins ......

that experience sucked so bad , i decided to do something about it , i knew already that both
78199-90351 & 78199-90352 were long since also Disc. / NLA
so began my quest to figure out how to get a factory or place to make new ones for me , using a good pre-owned one i had ordered from SOR.com via there human voice
1-818-882-1238 land line only of course .........

.
After at least 100+ hours of phone time and Googling late into the AM , i finally got my 1st box of my 1st reproduction part made from a thing called
Rubber that came out of the inside of a
thing called a : Para Rubber Tree ( Hevea brasiliensis )

i like making rubber TEq parts alive again ,,,, :wrench: :wrench: :wrench:

I do not know if it is round or oval too hard to see it while it is installed, It looks like it may have two holes in the grommet. but the overspray of paint makes id not good at this point will have to pull the tank. thanks for your response,
