Thanks Marshall. I edited the above post for clarification.

And as well Ill snap some pics of the dizzy/carb setup.
I jumped in and rerouted all the vac. lines and deleted smog cpu over the phone :D so theres factor 304

I do not have the dented side cover. Would I need it to run the vac advance dizzy? or your monster?

I was following the previous setup but I realize the dangers in that.

ok so here are a few shots that might help show what I've got and what I've done, so is it advanced or retarded? :D
72 carb off 1F
79....er ... 77 dizzy (i presume, was on the motor)

+I plugged the 1/4'' port on the base of the carb that went to PVC on old setup b/c I plumbed it to the intake manifold as seen in bottom of pic.
+Intake manifold to carb diaphragm
+Carb base port to dizzy

Thats factory correct till '71 or '73. Oh and get the right width belts.

And Marshall all of your manifold pictures in your 2F thread have been replaced by switches and knobs.

Michael Id love to.... Neither NAPA, autozone, or o'reilly have the wider belts; i was lucky to get one of those right there in the right length as it was. But I was rushing at the time i purchased those thinking I was close to being done :D

Would you worry about the belt being too wide for the scout PS pulley or would you suggest swapping out this pulley?

Definitely an improvement :D

The saginaw pump makes it a bit tricky but it can be done. I use a 82ish Volvo 240 pulley that is about as wide as the Toyota pulleys. There is a Volvo Junk Yard in Atl so I can get them w/ no problem (Auto Disassembly Volvo Inc. - Volvo Parts - Used and New Honest & reliable Volvo parts.). If you have a 3/4" press on pulley it should swap out fairly easily.

You can get the Alt Belt from Toyota and I may still have the Wide Belt Part numbers / length reference from O'Reillys at the shop but i did have to buy 4 or 5 last time before i got the right length.

It looking good all in all, and always nice to see a pig back on the road.

Thanks for the tip on the volvo pulley. I'll have to see if its press on or not.

I got home to set the timing but my light wont light :( so i fixed the choke cable instead and everything else looks good. I got a small coolant leak off the rear heater hose that wont seem to go away. Is there such thing as a hose sealant? A new hose im sure would do wonders too as this one wasnt replaced.

I need to have it towed to the exhaust shop now so I can hit the road for the break in period. Little nervous to be towed to burlington (shop of preference) and put the first roadmiles coming home from 30 miles out. But it satisfies the break in requirements and will be nice and hot for the valve adjustment.

"Pulley number 1-B-50-SDS
and Bushing SDS- 3/4
for the saginaw pump.. "

"The pulley I used and a few others is a machine pulley
and it is a little smaller in diameter so the RPM on
the pump increases a little.These are Martin,s #
,Martin is the Mfg.
Pulley- 1-B-50-SDS
Bushing- SDS 3/4
You can order them from Orion Mfg (ask for Ladis at

MUD crossed the #'s to Graingers# I think this is
them. GRAINGER

This is what I use.

Speaking of points. That looks like a vacuum retard dizzy. If so it's a piece of crap. You need to find a Vac advance dizzy. Though it looks like your carb isn't ported for vac advance.

well whadya know, I won me one of them fancy THC dizzies. Now I guess Im gonna have to buy a carb from you too as I just sold my 77.

Thanks for the SpringTideRide raffle donation Marshall!!!
