Old thread, but figured I'd update it now that it has been 8ish years since getting truck back from Proffitt. This might get a bit picture heavy, so dial up users beware. :rofl:

When I first brought home back in '02?

Didn't do much besides getting it running and daily drove it for years before blowing it up trying to keep up with Houston traffic flying at 75mph on the factory F. Dropped it in '08 with Proffitt.

Great looking truck! Was this originally a highways truck? The reason I ask is my Dad had an LV that was painted the same way when he got it. It came from Alberta department of highways about 1974, they had a couple of them.

It was originally a California truck before spending time in MN and finally ending up in TX. I have no idea the history of it prior to taking ownership

I remember the cal trans orange 45! I almost bought that truck in 1994 out here in California. It was expensive! $7500!!! I have the pics he sent me somewhere( pre internet days!) I will dig them up! Great 45 and you use it as intended!!👍

@whitey45 ,

Was that truck owned and operated as a Caltrans truck, or is that just a description of the color someone painted it?

I ask because we used to have a LosAngeles County Sheriff FJ40 that would patrol up here in the mountains some 30+ years back, and there was a sister FJ40 used further across the mountain range. They were white-color, later 79-up models, and one of them has periodically surfaced and been resold over the years.

Pretty sure it was just an owner painted rig, I just called it that! The owner had a big collection down your way @Bear at the time, over a dozen cruisers, think it was called happy ranch? I will dig up the pics.

These were the pics he sent me, and the Warn truck that set the hook!

Love the small world 😆. Are those Dietz turn-signal lights?

I like the title to this thread because they are never done
Well, when I started this thread I had just gotten the truck back from it being at Proffitt's first incarnation for over 4 years, and I did leave it alone for close to the next 5 years. Now that it has aged for a bit I'm starting to change things again. :)

And there was more jewelry from @Pigeaten (with some other additions from City Racer and my stash). Not 1965 correct, but close enough for me.

In Santa Inez, next to Michael Jackson's neverland. He had a red rust bucket FJ40 that belong to Pasteur the vaccine dude. I remember he had a beautiful sea foam green FJ45, totally restored for $19K.

Those are 44” ground hawgs! A team in Australia built it to run in competition’s back in the early 90’s. This one picture inspired me to build the green goblin!

I remember seeing that beast terrorizing the Norcal Coast :)
