After a year of work I've completed the restoration of my '82 FJ40. Replaced rotten tub with Aqualu Aluminum tub. Just painted it last week (Freeborn red). The tub worked out beautifully. Got it from Liquid off Road - they were good people to deal with. I've attached some pictures.

Congratulations. You just made everyone on this board jealous.

nice cruiser, dont scratch that paint. have fun with your new old toy

Thanks for the pics. I've got a tub at Liquid Offroad that I need to go pick up. How did you deal with that triangular cover piece? Did you use it or find another way around it?

Nice job, what I really like is that you replaced all the bolts after you painted, instead of painting over the bolts like so many do.....some should be painted, most should not be.

NICE square bezel :)

Damn Pimp, just as I was feeling high and mighty about my frame off..... Give us a list with documentation as to what should be painted and what should not be. If not painted I assume anodized? In particular; I want info on 9/72 FJ 40 factory softop. I thought about this a bit but went ahead and painted it all first time around. Thinking i might repaint and would like to do it as factory as possible.

Damn you pimp

All you need is some stock wheels and hub caps to make the 1982 Toyota pamphlet! That is hot. Love the freeborn red!

actaully I think most all the bolts are painted on a 72, including the hood hardware,...........so ya happy now? :flipoff2:

It is not so much a matter of being happy but of being less unhappy than usual. Fat, bald and irritated.

I was thinking painted then you raised the question. My resto is about to get back on the road; yet again. I ahd to rebuild the motor a 2nd time. it was a knocking a bit!
