Go with the 33x10.50s is my tire suggestion. Will work with stock suspension on stock wheels just fine.

No mods? Those 33's don't look like they'd fit without rubbing.
Sure would like to fit larger tires than my 31's on my 85.

GS, congrats. You're going to love that wagon. Be patient on the mods, they'll come in time.

I thought it looked kinda wee. The PO gave it to me. It's just not attached. Didn't look like it's entirely worth putting back on.

<snip>

It is held on by only two bolts but is worth having on in my experience. It can absorb some punishment better than the T/C would. As for tire size, considering your height and what you want from the truck, 31x10.50s would probably work just fine. Then, when you are hooked, lined and sinkered and go with an OME lift the 33s will fit perfectly. :D Check out http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/3FE/ for much good advice concerning things like cheap lift shocks for the rear gate among other things.

I say get the 33 x 9.50s. They'll fit just fine. It will make a dramatic difference in the look, ride, and capabilities of your truck. Again, congratulations on your choic of vehicle. You will never regret your choice.

Benji, you and Holmaas have some commonalities, judging by your avatar! I give you credit for at least getting one tire up off the ground a little bit though, :flipoff2:

There used to be a forest green 60 running around Boulder a few years ago. I haven't seen it recently. That color does look great on a 60. I'd condider it, but I couldn't live with changing the color of my truck unless the paint job included the engine bay and pulling all the glass. For now I'll live with orange (red).

I'm not sure 33x10.5's would fit, but they might.

this is Connie's 90 fj62, stock except for 33x9.5's and a ARB bull bar(which she wanted instead of diamonds for her b-day :D

Pimp, I have spent a day of fairly hard wheeling with a stock suspensioned FJ62 that had BFG AT 33x10.50s on the stock rims and there were no rubbing problems at all. All four wheels were fully stuffed in the wheelwells at one time or another that day.
Better some wheeling than not at all I guess. Digging up a new septic field?

Landpimp,

That is a great looking 62. The silver and the ARB look great together. That is a awsome package.

someday I'll swap the 60's tires to the 62 and see how they fit, I trust you..........but to me it looks like it would be tight, especaily if you had a load in the back.

don't even rub the frame in the front?

I'm trying to imagine how the tires could hit the frame without going out to look at the truck. No rubbing anywhere on that particular truck on that day. The most likely place for rubbing would be the front lip of the inner fender well under full compression, I think.

Pimp, yer woman has a fine lookin ride there!

A bull bar is definitely on my wish list. I don't know if that will come before or after a gear basket. Funny thing though ... whenever I see gear baskets around here, they never actually have anything IN THEM.

Yesterday I saw one on a HEEP grand cherokee, and they had painted it champagne to match the body. It looked DUMB. :flipoff2: Black just complements that color better.

I see the front tag had to be ziptied to the ARB. AZ doesn't require front tags, but I have vanity tags, and I'd like the front one on. So I guess that something to consider.

Is that a recessed winch I see in the pic, or a scrape on the ARB?

:princess:
