Just curious to see if anyone on this board or a buddy that has a FFL. Sure would save money to buy a gub online and then have it shipped to a buddy with a FFL than to a store and pay the high fees. Send me a PM with info.
Ash, I've used two guys. One in Rio Rancho (my preferred), and another here in ABQ off Coors. I think they both charged me $25 for the transfer and it was painless.
Thanks for the info. $25 + shipping + cost of item = no $$ savings; might as well buy it locally. Unfortunately that's what I'm finding out and may have to just suck it up I guess.
Go to GunBroker.com and search the FFL's in ABQ by zip code. I used an old guy who does it out of his house for about $10-15 right before I left ABQ. That's as good as it gets.
$25 is not a bad price either. If it isn't saving you money to buy online then you aren't looking hard enough.
Do tell what you have in mind.

EDIT:
I used this guy once, very nice, very old. This is guy who does it out of his house. Easy as pie. Price is $25

Since I'm not a buyer, I was confused with this post. So I tried to figure out exactly what a FFL is. I came across this at the NRA website:
"However, "a person who makes occasional sales, exchanges, or purchases of firearms for the enhancement of a personal collection or for a hobby, or who sells all or part of his personal collection of firearms" or "a person who makes occasional repairs" or "who occasionally fits special barrels, stocks, or trigger mechanisms to firearms" is not considered "engaged in the business" and is not required to obtain an FFL."
Adding to what Daisy said. The FFL will run you through the national database. If there are any problems the FFL will not be able to transfer over the firearm to you.
Bought my last two handguns from a guy named Tom Halsey. Works out of his house.299-2023. Including tax, was about 10% less than Sportsman's Warehouse. About 25% lees than MSRP
