I’m looking for ways to cover the holes in my fenders since removing the flares

I’m not sure what I’m ultimately going to do so looking for a temporary solution to cover the holes

Ive tried some different black vinyl stickers from Amazon but nothing wants to stick very long

Any ideas you can share?

Weld them up...... You say temporary, but we all know those flares are never going back on.

If you do decide to weld them than I will let you know a little trick that only costs $0.01. For any holes easily accessible from both sides you can use a penny for welding. Hold the penny up to one side of the hole and weld the hole shut from the other side.

Don't know how to weld and the prices I've been quoted to weld them closed.......cost more than I paid for the rig

I'm about to cover mine up. I got color matched Monstaliner and will be throwing some aluminum flashing tape over the holes before putting the Monstaliner on. Can't wait to get it done since I've had these holes for about 8 years now.

While that's a great long term fix, there's more to it than just welding if he's looking to make it more aesthetically pleasing. He would still need to grind, paint etc. That becomes rather permanent and probably a bigger project than he's looking for based on his post.

I used 3M aluminium tape about 4 years ago, and it's held up great in the TX heat/weather. Make sure to clean the area well with isopropyl, and double up on and larger holes. The adhesive on this tape is crazy. Some day I'll monstaline over them, but today is not that day. I also have an LX, which has like a billion more holes than an LC.

Also, if you still have the adhesive residue from the flares, this drill attachment made it a 10 minute job to get it all off.

Home Depot has about 10 different types of aluminum adhesive tape in the air ducting area of the store. Some look pretty gnarly thick and durable. I haven't tried them yet, as I'm going to have a lock shop Rhino Line that area. They say they have a strong tape they are going to use to cover those holes. I'll ask if they'll let me take a look at the tape they use, and if so I'll post up the info in this thread.

I just did this, but on an LX450 which has alot more holes to cover once you remove all the flares and cladding. I used fiberglass cloth and it worked perfectly. I had to remove the door cards to reach the back of the holes In the door and I was able to reach most of the holes for the flares. It's a little messy with the resin, but it easy, permanent and can be finished nicely. I put the resin cloth on the back of the holes and filled the front with bonds. Here is my finished result.

I filled mine with fiberglass impregnated Bondo after dimpling the holes this has held up for 5 years no issues I covered the Bondo with Auto touch up. Com color match paint the paint match was spot on. And comes in a rattle can.
