Hi Guys,
I live in Victoria, Australia and have 2005 IFS 100 TD (1HD-FTE ) it has been my daily driver and work vehicle for the past 4 years, I have been setting it up for touring, with almost 100 000 km's (60 000 miles) on the clock I now want to put it into semi retirement for trips and leave the daily work to something a bit smaller.

I purchased it new in Feb. 2005 and the next day had ARB fit,

ARB Bulbar
ARB Rear bar (installation delayed till July)
IPF Spots
ARB Air compressor
2" OME suspension
Front and rear air lockers
Longranger 180 litre long range tank
Safari snorkel
Safari Dtronic power upgrade (173kw & 525Nm)
10,000 lb Warn
ARB Roof rack
ARB Auxiliary 3rd battery

Over the next year I did many short trips in preparation for a 12 week trip to the Kimberley’s in Western Australia and fitted,
Tanami Drawer system
GME radio
33” Goodyear MTRs

After 20,000 klm trip towing my Tvan camper on some of Australias’ worst corrugated tracks I was disappointed with the performance of the OME suspension and replaced it with Bilstien shocks, Ridepro springs and slee diff drop which gave me a much better ride and a little more lift.

After a few hard weekend trips in the Victorian High country I then had to replace my plastic bashplates and standard side steps with some locally manufactured sliders and one piece bashplate from Assassin Offroad.

Then an upgrade of my Dtronic to the Safari High Output system which gave me an integrated package of bigger intercooler, 3” exhaust and different mapping which delivered heaps more torque and took it to 200kw which has made it a gem to drive on and off the road.
Safari High Output Systems.

Changed my Battery system from the original 2 starters and one auxiliary deep cycle, to 1 large cranker 750cca and 1 Deep cycle 115 amp hour with a Redarc Smart Solenoid this reduced the weight on the front end and gave me 2 similar N70ZZ batteries.

I then replaced my wire winch rope and rollers (19kg) with Masterpull synthetic and aluminum hawse.

Then in early 2008 in preparation for a desert trip I fitted 35” Procomp muds on 18” alloys and changed the suspension to a Fox long travel and Slinky spring package this gave me better ground clearance and much better articulation.

And a Warn 12cfm compressor to pump them up in a sensible time frame.

I have just replaced my ARB rear bar after it failed for the second time with a great US made Slee.

One word: Sweet!!!

When will Toyota finally offer that awesome TD engine in the US?

Nice! great job!

Eh, this pic of the front axle and boots, was this taken with the body jacked up? The angles look pretty steep.

Yes it was taken with the other 2 over the dips

Specifically how did your ARB rear fail....twice?

Specifically how did your ARB rear fail....twice?

Wheel support broke at the weld where the tube passes through the c section swing arm at 12 months old ( replaced free of charge by ARB ) and then the bearings went creating excessive movement. I felt it was a waste of time to continue with it as I had put 35s and the extra weight and leverage would have made it even worse on our corrugated roads where I do most of my trips.

The ultimate touring wagon for Aus, in my opinion, though I am a little biased after using and installing some of the same mentioned products

And if anyone plans on trying to fit the Warn compressor in the same place, it just fits by milimetres everywhere, once you move lots of stuff!:banana::banana::banana:

Nice! I like seeing the TVAN in tow and in camp too!

Great rig man! Good to have Darren as a local resource for you. Are you planning to regear?

Really nice rig.
Is it the same Dtronic chip you have in it now and just a bigger intercooler and exhaust and it would make 200kw??
Im thinking of the same chip and cooler to my 100 series, the exhaust have i done in 3" stainless without mufflers...... sweet sound :o)

Nice set up. Drawers are very cool. Nice that you can actually get into the top of the fridge.

Yes its very handy I have done a few trips with him as well, he is in Geelong which is our second biggest city about 1 hr drive from Melbourne.
Yes I did regear to 4.56 when I put the 35"s on, forgot to mention that.

No its not the same unit, unfortunately it is only available in the HO kit, (which does upset a few here in Australia). I had to sell my original unit second hand.
