I have put on about 12k miles this year on my 2007GX since purchasing in January 2015 with 41k miles. First oil change was at the local Toyota dealership and then I did the second myself with a Toyota oil filter and Mobil 1 synthetic cause that is what I always used in my 80. Got me thinking about future fluid changes and was wondering what you folks prefer. I am only needing motor oil now but will have more fluids to exchange in the next year.

my favorit fluid is gas.... more gas!

-i too use mobil 1 synthetic with toyota filters, done so in all my cars, no issues

Another fan of Toyota filters and Mobile1 oil; and I'll stick with M1 synth in the diffs and transfer case. They have always been good to me, are widely available (unlike the boutique fluids), and price is reasonable. I suspect any quality fluid changed according to the Lexus schedule will be fine, no need for a religious war. ;)

Exactly. Any name brand fluid will be fine. I use Toyota oil filters and regular valvoline 5w30. When the time comes, the diffs, tcase, and trans will get valvoline synthetic fluid, as that's what we use at work on all our Infiniti's.

I have used mobil 1 synthetic in all my vehicles for years and never had any problems and was very happy with it. I recently switched over to Amsoil and am VERY pleased with it. I change my fluids every 5k and it looks just as fresh as when I put it in. Availability is not really an issue since I bring extra fluids with me everywhere. Plus with my dealer discount it is the same price as Mobil1!!

Old thread but curious if the Toyota filter is different on 05' GX with the VVTI motor? Do you just get the according year filter as the V8 4Runner?

*Update
So looks like Toyota filter part #90915YZZD3 will be good to go.
