Help needed.

Sent the ebrake cable to contol cables in CA, and they cannot extend cable that we need due to the stretched frame. Before I say anything else, they seem like awesome folks, and they may be able to make a solution; however, it would be to fab up a block that would take the current cable, then transmit to a second cable.... my point it these are the pros to talk to, just not able to do much on this cable...

Does any of our Austrialian members have a contact over at creative conversions?? Creative Conversions – Australia's Premier Conversion Specialist

I emailed them several weeks ago, and no response.

I know they have done many 80 series and other version extensions, so they must have a solution.

Or anyone know of a stretched 80 on mud, and can help us see how the cable was adapted?

Thanks,

I am in the process of getting cables from InlineTube Brake Lines (Inline Tube - The brake plumbing experts) for my 1970 GMC project we are doing. They can custom make any brake cables.

If you have your originals and know your dimensions, they can do them reasonably quick....(2 weeks-ish)

CALL them (don't just email) and get someone in tech. Don't stop asking until you're satisfied.

Thanks @BILT4ME I will give them a call.

Started prepping the interior for chassis saver paint. I probably should have done this before the Exterior, however, this is the way it went. With all the nooks and crannies decided that this had to be brushed on, so I didn't think it mattered to do before after the exterior.

Not a lot of progress this weekend, as Family was in town for Josh's Eagle Court of honor. It was a real nice ceremony, and several members from our local TAC club was in attendance, three of them also Eagle Scouts.

Before all this started though, I did get some sandblasting done on the frame, and I prepped for POR 15.

Backing up, this is a California Rig, so very little rust. The only spots were on the original factory welds.
The one surprising spot of rust on this was underneath the spring center rubber thing.

I forgot to get an action picture but Joshua's little sister came out and helped paint the frame

Thanks @BILT4ME , I called those folks, and sending pics to see if they can help.

If not, I have an idea.... Control cable can add cable to the end of the existing cable, so thinking about the option of adding 9" of tube to this...

Got good news on the e-brake cable. Control cables found a way to extend the housing and replace the wire.

Should have the new cable next week.

Today was a good day! Got so much done I don't even know where to start. Well, here goes.

Just to get the small things out of the way I custom made a seal for the vents at the rear of the cab:

Thanks to @StucknKS and @7powernerd for a great day in the shop.

I kept an extra set of locked axles from another parts rig, had them sandblasted and painted with two part epoxy and then John Deere blitz black. Been sitting on the bench waiting for this project to swap parts onto these axles.

We replaced the bearings and all seals, then move the emergency brakes over from the old axle. Finish it off with some sexy new rotors.

Fuel tank going in, the good news is that the pressure side fuel line was long enough!!!! The bad news is that I had to make another mount for the front of the tank also. I need to look under another rig to remember which soft line goes to what port.

Another late night, got the exhaust welded in. Ended up using one cat

Anyone know a source for bulk fuel tank filler hose? Also need a 90 degree bend piece.

I am thinking that I can use the Tacoma filler spot and neck.

Funny thing is that I don't know what year truck bed I have, so hard to order a filler neck...

Once you go ahead and get all the filler sizes figured out post 'em up so I can order them too!

what ID do you need.. I used a filler neck avail at Napa for the 45.. costly little sucker.. FUEL TANK FILLER NECK HOSE - NBH 1046 - $35.99
I have most of it left as i only needed the inner corner. I can snap a pic or you can refer to this thread
66 FJ45 SWB Gas Filler Neck
I can measure the ID of the hose and perhaps it is the same.. if not then it will give you a decent starting point to search at Napa for something in the same family.

Good find Johnny.. WOW, Wish I would have known about that site a while back..
