100 series friends,

I need to replace the fan clutch on my 99 LC. It looks like the OEM version is about $125. The AJIK blue fan clutch is twice that at 235 or 250 w/ hardware.

Allegedly this will give me cooler engine temps and cooler AC temps. Is it worth double the price? Do I need this? I would consider myself satisfied with the current engine temps and AC temps. But sometimes you just don't know what you're missing!

TIA for any help.

I would say if you've experienced cooling issues or live in a desert climate, then it would be worth it to have a modified fan clutch. Otherwise, the OEM one's been working fine for me for 16 years and going (I just jinxed myself).

Fix it...until its broken :D Let it be...unless you're just dying to buy more gas.

Dan nailed it. Engine-driven fans are expensive to operate.

Sidebar: didn't someone (spresso?) come up with an all-electric replacement at some point a while back?

I was going to switch over to an electric fan set-up...but got sidetracked with other projects and life :D And at the end of the day I like the simplicity, albeit at a small mpg hit, and reliability of the mechanical set-up...
