Fan Clutch replacement - OEM vs. AJIK (blue fan)

100 series friends,

I need to replace the fan clutch on my 99 LC. It looks like the OEM version is about $125. The AJIK blue fan clutch is twice that at 235 or 250 w/ hardware.

Allegedly this will give me cooler engine temps and cooler AC temps. Is it worth double the price? Do I need this? I would consider myself satisfied with the current engine temps and AC temps. But sometimes you just don't know what you're missing!

I would say if you've experienced cooling issues or live in a desert climate, then it would be worth it to have a modified fan clutch. Otherwise, the OEM one's been working fine for me for 16 years and going (I just jinxed myself).

Fix it...until its broken Let it be...unless you're just dying to buy more gas.

Dan nailed it. Engine-driven fans are expensive to operate.

Sidebar: didn't someone (spresso?) come up with an all-electric replacement at some point a while back?

I was going to switch over to an electric fan set-up...but got sidetracked with other projects and life And at the end of the day I like the simplicity, albeit at a small mpg hit, and reliability of the mechanical set-up...
