I will save the old one when mine is changed next week. I can send you the old one if you are still interested at that time. I will pm you when I have the old part in hand.

Cool! How far East in Texas? I go to training at DFW every six months, it would be nice if I could save shipping. I'm sure TSA would love to see that go throught the x-ray!

About 100 miles east of Dallas, just south of Tyler. I had mine done last week and had the mechanic give me all my old parts back. I think the new bracket cost $170+/- from Sam Stewart.

I am going to lay all the old parts out that I had replaced and shoot a pic to update my build thread for posterity.

If you want that bracket, I might be able to get it to Dallas while you are there. Let me know when your next trip happens or I can always ship it.

Are you guys using OEM part or Aisin or...?

Aisin makes for Toyota, just in Aisin box. I'd not use anything else.

Just noticed mine was bad and needed replaced I ordered at Dorman thinking it was a good OEM replacement. Aisin was actually a little less expensive. Should I get it instead?

Yes Aisin is the OEM manufacturer. I ordered the part @2001LC posted above when my original fan bracket bearing seized and damaged my belt. I would most definitely not pay extra for the Dorman if the Aisin is available.

Aisin is the only choice, IMHO. And if you are anywhere near doing a timing belt service, do it now with the fan bracket, since replacing the fan bracket is probably 90% of the labor to get to the timing belt. Throw a front oil seal on, too.

Another vote here for doing the fan bracket every time, especially on the 2nd or 3rd T-belt service. My bearing was noisy and due for replacement. If I recall correctly that was one of the parts I didn't know I needed ahead of time and caused some undue stress when I got it all apart and realized I shouldn't re-use that.

Good call on replacing the TM belt. I'm only 43K miles on mine so I am going to wait on it. That bracket play created some scary noises under the hood.

Here is my fan bracket at 177k miles. I think I will replace it, it was a B**** to get to!
I'm going to replacing my fan bracket next week. Any order of operations for it other than removing the fan clutch and serpentine belt? I assume there are some other pulleys and such that need to be removed to get to the mounting screws. Seems like a lot of people in this thread did it themselves.

I have a 99 100 series

Cheers

i am on original Fan Bracket 229K miles, i noticed some unusual sound from that area, should i replace it anyway as PM?

any recommendation?
If the bearing freezes, the truck will throw the serpentine belt and the truck will stop. Not likely to cause damage unless the fan clutch comes off, which I've only seen once. If it's a little noisy and it doesn't bother you, it's probably OK. If it gets noisy enough, do it with a timing belt change, since most of the labor to correctly replace the fan bracket is included in the TB change. They'll go about 250k miles, but they get crunchy at the end. Yours is likely getting there.

Watch and listen to it with a stethoscope along with idler and tensioner bearings while engine cold then hot. Do any wobble, chirp, does pitch change if so going bad. Look for metal filling on top of FB behind pulley, If any it's real bad. Remove drive belt and spin each bearing. Can you hear them do they keep free spin any play/wobble in them, yes then they're bad.

It should go without saying, but be careful of the spinning fan while checking things out while the engine is running. :-)

One year on my Dorman replacement, still smooth- no issues. I would have probably chosen OEM, but it was quite literally STUCK choosing the Dorman on the spot. Luckily, it's been perfectly fine for over a year now and Many miles (it's my daily driver).
