Not to hijack the OP’s thread, but for those intrigued by the spare mounting solution Kaymar offers an aftermarket swing out that I THINK can be fitted to a US 200.

I checked and shipping to the US is $371. I could get it there and then ship it here but that would add up to the same price as getting it here. Oh, man!!It does show out of stock, and shipping will be a lot. you can always look to source it for UAE, never hurts to ask. Verify the part number with your model/vin before you order.
Man, those are really nice. I wish we had access to all the goodies in Australia. Not to hijack the OP’s thread, but for those intrigued by the spare mounting solution Kaymar offers an aftermarket swing out that I THINK can be fitted to a US 200.
Some, like his have a tailgate like our US models, but with an offset license plate and a latch keeper built in for the release latch. Me likey. Here's the full parts list.

I'm going to take it off and take it to a shop here. Guys here are very resourceful but it could also be that once it's taken apart and it cannot be fixed that I will have to purchase the new one. I'll let you all know what I end up doing.Toyota produced both styles. Part number for the liftgate trucks is 51903-60160.
Before ordering, I would inspect the latch that grabs onto the tailgate, along with the rubber stopper and vertical catch on the top liftgate. If the slop does prove to be in those outer hinges, it may(?) be cheaper to have them drilled out, and new bolts or sleeves inserted. Those would have to be sourced from somewhere other than Toyota.
Try carmarka.com, usually quite a bit less money, but can take longer to get it.
For those looking to convert, the tailgate is also required... along with a bunch of additional parts. The support braces for the corner hinges are available, no idea how the access is for install.
Common mod to solve this is adding a hydraulic strut on top:I have a 2008 LC200 with the factory spare tire carrier that is very loose and annoying because it keeps closing on me. It came with a pin that can be inserted at the top swing arm but is there a way to make it tighter so it doesn't swing so easily? Any other solutions someone here has tried besides using the pin?
Thanks in advance.
