Do i need special tires for my split rims? I want Goodyear MTRS 33 x 9.5 x 16 or 235 x 75 x 16. I know I have to get tubes and liners, but can i get tubes and liners for these tires I am wanting?

Rob

yes just make sure you get tubes for radials and radial liners....and bias tubes/liners for bias tires

you will have no problems

i am running 255/85r16 radial Toyo M-55's ...radial tube and radial liner...make sure you get the tube nipple off set....you are running stock-cruiser split rims correct?

255/85r16 is a true 33" tire and 10" wide

what is better radials or bia ply? I would think radials?

pros and cons of bias ply:

Cons:

bias ply...wear out fast

bias ply...get flat spots when sitting too long

Army tires usually have great sidewall...which means it takes a beatting...but...it doesnt flex all that well unless aired down ALOT.

Suck wet

Pros:

Usually cheaper than Radials

good on sand, dry pavement, and gravel

Great sidewall strength

Tube tires you can air down ALOT

Repairs on the trail

They look COOL

GREAT write-up:

Tire Choices

there is a good write-up here about split rims:
https://forum.ih8mud.com/40-55-series-tech/199121-255-85-r16-bf-goodrich-mud-split-rims.html

are you going for a vintage look?

radials are the better choice if you are DD the rig

pros:

smoother ride

wear alot longer

come in larger sizes

good pavement traction in all weather

better fuel economy

Cons:

side wall construction tipicly weaker

dont conform around rock as well as bias

usually a wide tire at the larger sizes

thats just a partial list

Not sure what you think of the kinda old school look but here is a swamper on my split.

Thanks fellas, looks like radials for me for it will be a daily driver, that last pic looks great but a little too aggressive for mine. I have 5 brand new 16" Toyota split rims for my 83 BJ42 LX RHD and will be going with 33 x 9.5 on my OME 2.5" deluxe heavy suspension. here is a couple of my recent goodies.

Thanks again

They are probably on the box somewhere, I bought them from 4wheelauto. Next time I go to my storage facility where my parts are I will check, you need?
