I need to know exactly how the rack is connected,I have the 2 front screws removed on both the front and rear mounts but the 2 longer ones on both the front and rear mounts wont come out.Stripped maybe?I pull up on the rack while unscrewing but cant get them to catch and come out.Is the rack "plugged" into the roof with rubber grommets maybe? pleas don't tell me I have to remove the headliner to acces a couple nuts under the roof. It sounds like the threaded inserts in the roof may be spinning. when i took my rack off there was rust around these and one of them was actually loose.

Agreed.
Most likely the nutserts are spinning in the roof skin (they are steel and are likely rusted). You may need to drop the headliner and get hold of them from the underside. I'm sure you didn't want to hear that but that may be your best bet.

Ya I'm sure they are spinning.Any ideas on how to get them to catch?
