I got a response right away from sales@naviav.com. Mocal is his name.
The picture of the unit they sell was deceiving. I wanted to make sure it retained the heat controls. I even sent him a pic of a 2004 dash. That's when he explained only the screen is replaced with a touch screen. Only thing he didn't send like I asked was wiring diagram but website shows most of the diagram.
$500 is reasonable for what the unit does but I have concerns on how easy it would be to use and it's quality. Someone will have to be a guinea pig.

Ok..I'll send them a note and see what I can find...it really looked like a full replacement system from the web site...I hope it's not a bother dead end.......

I didn't believe it either. This the detail pic they sent showing the slim touch screen part that must mount in front of factory screen. Then there is the single cd/DVD part that has to go somewhere. Where the tape deck is maybe? It would help if I actually owned an 03+ to play with. Hopefully soon.

So it does retain heat controls but doesn't replace the bezel and the buttons? Now I'm kind of confused (happens often) about what it does do. Does it just make the screen and nav more of a contemporary type of system? Since it is referred to as a Windows OS does that mean that iPhone apps can't be run on the screen or is that what they mean when they say iPhone etc. are supported?

I have an '03. If you guys want to chip in and help buy me one I'll volunteer to guinea pig!

;)

If all of us 03+ guys want a solution, who's savvy enough to do the R&D?

I'd be willing to throw some money at it. If we all chip-in 20, 30 bucks, the right person should be able to solve this puzzle.

Any players?

I'm holding out for third party Apple CarPlay or Google's version - whichever comes first. Hard to believe my 2003 100 series came out four years before the iPhone was introduced. Figuring I've got at least another 10 years in it, I'll just be patient and wait for technology to keep screaming forward with a solution to the antiquated in dash nav system. In the meantime, subscribed to see where this goes.

The naviav piece is all touch screen so all the factory buttons on the left will do nothing. The heat controls will work as normal. It's actually one of things I don't like about it. Hard buttons are nice when it's sunny. Also wonder how well the touch screen will work when it's -30 in wisconsin.

Sent them another email to the one you posted asking if it would work on a 2002...waiting on a response

So did a quick google search on the company for reviews..only found 2 that are from last year and both people ordered and never received product...so I guess it's back to the old drawing board :(

Good catch. Lot of work to create such an elaborate site with detailed info. At this point I guess I would not send them money either. I think I might ask him straight up about people saying they never received product.

Ok moving on....

Will a single din flip screen unit fit where the awesome tape deck is?

Next idea would see if heat controls can be cut out of the original radio somehow. Do the controls truly run through the stereo or near. I would even be willing to relocate the rest of the radio if needed.

I thought about the tape deck thing but I thought I saw a post where someone said it was integrated into the climate controls...

Has anybody looked into the apple car play with the pioneer and alpine units? I wasn't aware of those and just started reading about them and of course the reviews but still sounds like there are some bugs to be worked out!

EDIT: Dah! Leucadiacruiser already brought it up! Question still remains, anyone looked into it?

I sent pioneer a email asking since they already have a bunch of Apple CarPlay products out...we shall see

Car-Play would be a great option, although, I'd be more interested in swapping factory nav, for non-factory nav.

Several 100 series cruisers (outside the US) came with no-nav. Can't we source parts, and plug & play?

I have a 2002 with Nav. I got the gamin heads up gps. since we can't update and right now I'm using a cassette adapter with a sat radio. I am interested in a vaistech. Or a USA spec but there are so many other things I want to get for the truck. I have the tablet and holder but Internet reception isn't as dependable as the sat rad. I would be happy to swap in a new screen with much higher resolution, to have the sat rad and Internet controls in the dash. If anyone comes up with a really well done tablet integration I'd love to see it.

Here is a pic I got of a recently bought 04 Japanese spec out of @DiploSport build tread.
A distant option would be find a source for the bottom section witch is the ac/heater controls and then do whatever flavor suits you with the upper section. That is if a sort of doable swap would be possible!
Any of the parts suppliers here able to figure a part number for those?
