Silly question.
Before I go to the trouble of trying, anyone know if a 1F oil pan will fit a 2F motor? (I have two decent F motors and the pan on my 2F is pretty beat.)

Not unless you modify the the area in the F pan where the oil pump pickup from the 2F fits, since it is not the same.....

And depending on the year of your F engine, the dipstick hole may need to be added/modified into the F pan.

Really? I see no visual difference in size and shape on the outside and the dipstick enters the oil pan through the block. I have never had one off and am curious if there are baffles inside the pan around the pick up on the 2F and not the F?

If you have a early 2F with the old style pump, it will be a straight swap. If you have alater 2F with the pump with the pick up cast into the body of the pump, you will have to trim one of the baffles.

you have to cut the baffle quite a bit defeats the purpose i have welded the 2f bafle in the f pan but its easier to buy the right one good luck

Just notch it out the way the later ones are. It will not be exactly like the later factory baffle, but close enough to make absolutely no difference in the real world.

Well - since I was drinking a beer and watching a movie I missed the $70 oil pan on ebay soooo, I will take them apart this weekend (maybe) and take a look. I will also post pics of the difference which might be useful to someone other than me - maybe. In the mean time

Oct 2: So I was going to do this over the weekend, hurt my back and ended up in the bed all weekend. SH*T. I'll get to it and post pics soon.

Quite a bit of time has passed since I posted to this so ttt. If you look here you know why.
Any way - I finally got out of a project to start on the 40 and the first thing I did was remove a smashed oil pan from a 2F and the good one from the F. Posted are the picks of the difference if anyone cares to know what they are exactly. All due to the oil pump.

I cut a cardboard template and traced the outline on the two baffles that needed to be modified and went at it with the Dremel. It was tuff cuz there is little room but the finished product will work I am sure, place the F has some holes in the bottom of the rear baffle that look like they may make the motor happy.

The F notched.

I hope that somebody finds this useful.

Uh, my 2F pan looks different than either one of those.
Really? Must be differences varying by year. What are your differences?

They do not have the baffle holes in them. They are welded on the sides and the front one is open completely on the bottom. Meaning that is is not welded at all on the bottom.
Guess Toyota is always trying new stuff. Thanks for the description.
