Watched them all on my Tivo via youtube, pretty good series and gave me a lot of ideas for my dream to do Dalton to Dead Horse.

Yeah, I thought these guys were pretty smart with how they modified the vehicles, although I'm no expert. I'm only finished with episode two. What is this "Dalton to Dead Horse" of which you speak?

I thoroughly enjoyed watching the Expedition Overland series. Enough that I convinced my wife that we needed a cruiser in our life again. I haven't been around since I sold my 40 and now we are hunting for an 80/450 or 100/470. Stoked.

I just meant going the opposite of what they did since I'd be coming from the NE US, most likely going from Edmonton to Fort St John then 97 to 1 and into white horse, from there going to Fairbanks and then the Dalton highway to Dead Horse

It would be hard to sit in a production meeting trying to pitch a build and show its value and draw to a wide market. I'm just glad it is still on tv.

It looks to me as thought they probably got a bunch of free stuff, tires, shocks, springs, gears, lockers, maxtrax, and most likely a huge discount on that trailer.

The whole premise of the show is basically an info-mercial. What's more affordable from a marketing standpoint. Give them product to use in the build? Or pay to film or create a commercial to air between the shows? If they ever build a 80/100 I'll be happy to ship out a barrier. There would never be a better deal in marketing for me.

Hard part is continually coming up with projects that have a broad appeal. The latest creations are just not doing it for me personally. Focus? No. Cummin's with bed stacks. Hell no. Cab over car hauler. OK marginal attention keeper. Rock Bouncer. About the same.

What I do like is the increased basic info like welding techniques. I took a basic class almost 20 years ago which honestly was a complete joke. I've self taught most everything. So seeing the proper way is great.

That's basically what I try to get out of these type shows. I used to watch more of the car/bike/hot rod shows just to watch how they fabricate things. Now most of those type shows have turned into reality shows which don't show any of the actually building or just panhandle the sponsors products.

I find a lot of good stuff on you tube when it comes to welding from Jody weldingtipsandtricks probably the best resource for welding other than weldingweb.com
