Try one with the bull bar like the one on the TJ on your website.

I'm liking the looks of it though!

Hears about the best I can figure for now...

Its hard to figure it any other way, or to add side hoops/bars becuase it would block the lights.....

Nice...now put two off road lights in the middle and take my Visa #...

looks good wouldnt be too hard to build both ways they both look very nice now lets get one on an fj.

I Wouldn't know for sure on any of them, but for the ones I've seen and that have been posted in this thread, I wouldn't think they would have any issues....

The all-pro has quite a few holes in it that are probobly very adequate, and the bentup bumper also has alot of holes going across the bottom which I would think allow for ample Flow.

The design form my company Currently doesn't have any vent holes but it is something that where looking at and will be putting in if needed....

The air doesn't all come through the front of the truck; air resistance builds up as the vehicle goes faster making it harder for the air to flow through the radiator without help. A good fan and fan shroud (the one already on the FJC is adequate) are what you need. Putting holes won't necessarily improve anything.

Hey wait a minute...I can drive their too. Just give me about 14 hours notice....LOL

lets do it!

I like it, but here are my thoughts....
The top part of the first one seems a little big. And the top part of the second one seems not big enough, compared to the bottom part of the bumper. How 'bout something in between?

To me, all of the brands just look massive, except for the LCNW one, and that is completely different than the rest. They all look 'aftermarket', which thay are, but do not need to look like it. Can't we have better lines, do some trimmin' and slimmin' and still retain the protection and strength? A little more like the bumper is OEM.

Sorry, I'm not pickin' on you guys, Mapleton and fonz, that is just a general question for all of the designers. And really, you two are the only ones that actually gave us, the consumer, a say before anything was built. I like that. All the others were virtually done first, and then, bam, how do you like it?

There are only a few available at this point and the main bumper section on all but all but one look very similar. Let's create the one everyone wants, not the one everyone else has to offer. I live kinda close, have some ideas, or at least the what not to do's, and am willing to be a guinea pig if you need more than one. Let me know.

Waaaaaay more than my 2 cents worth, thanks for listening.

Kathie

Love your design of the last bumper with the single loop. I have been watching the designs, and so far yours looks the best. Let me know if you need help with it. I am nearby in Salt Lake, and would be willing to let you use my FJ.

Ya, its kinda tough with the FJcruiser becuase of how its configured up front. The stock bumper is actaully pretty big but they did a good job at breaking it up a bit so it doesn't look so big, but I do hear what your saying. for us this is just a preliminary design done against a back drop vs what comes next, precise mesurements, and CAD mockups... At that point we can actually start Sliming and triming to make the bumper look less bulky, and more of what people won't. Bulky ness is definetly something we shy away from. Trust me this isn't the last time you'll see the design posted, only next time it will be against the backdrop of a CAD FJcruiser, or atleast the front part of one, and it will hopefully have changed in all the area's people are wonting...

Critique of competitors

I really like the "concept" looks of your new bumper. It is decidedly different then the others currently approaching the market. So far, yours is the best looking of the bunch in my opinion.

Here was my armchair critique of your current competors that I posted on a different site:

" taking a much closer look at the ARB, Bentup.com, and AllProOffRoad.com versions I am definately leaning away from ARB. I like the clean lines of the Bentup product but think that it might be slightly out of proportion for the width of the rig. I do like ther proportionality of the All Pro but wish it was a little deeper (like the Bentup) to accomodate for a bull bar. I am going to continue to wait until I see what the final contenders/price/availability are until I make up my final decision. If you could somehow combine the width of the All Pro with with the Depth of the Bentup combined with the bull bar from ARB, you would have the perfect balance between function, form, and proportionality."

Hope this aids you on your new design (relative to the others) I very much like what I see so far in your design. Keep it up!

Best regards,
Jimmy

A few personal preferences: I like your design with the full bull bar; I like the fact that the driving/fog lights are offset from the main head lights (unlike ARB); I like the angular lower half of the bumper (it compliments the design of the vehicle quite well).

I do have one question for you: I presume that this bumper will have provisions for a winch...Will you permit the winch to be readily accessable for winch maintainace? This has been brought up on other forums as a major issue with other designs. Lack of accessability to do required maintainance/visual inspections may cause safety related issues.

Yes it will have privisions for a winch. Every front bumper we design and make comes standard with a winchmount... Now, will the winch be readily accessable for winch maintainance/visual inspection? This is a good question? On all our other bumpers we have been able to give good and direct access to the winch for visual inspection and some mantainance. The FJcruiser presents some challanges however in the design to make it have the looks, function, and style that we try and put into each of our bumpers. There will be a top access hole to allow the use of integrated solinoid winches to be used, and to allow the opperator to switch the spool from locked to free... If the maintainace is serious and requires taking apart the winch it might be tough to make it so one doesn't have to remove the bumper but we'll see what we can do....

There is also a good chance that more access will be possible form the sides/ wheel wells...

what kind of matanance are you wonting to be able to do?

Regards,

Yes. I'm not sure yet weather or not it will work with the stock acessories one that Toyota has, but its somthing we're looking at as a possiblity when we get down to slimming the bumper.....

That would be great, since a lot of us bought these accessories coming out of the gate.

So far I like this one best but would like to see it with a second (smaller) hoop on top of the maiin one so that you have a place to wrap a tow strap. Something like this maybe...

Do you have estimates on how long it will take to go from an accepted design to a selling / delivering product? I just need to know if it will be quick enough that I should wait instead of buying one of the other offerings.

Thanks,
Shawn

Hears a photshop image infront of the production model FJcruiser vs the concept for those that were wonting so see it....
