Has everyone ever painted or coated their exhaust system(mainly the muffler and pipe up to the Cat (but not including the Cat)?

I know they paint headers or coat with ceramic but looking to black out completely my DD and the exhaust system will show a bit.

I have an option of getting it in stainless or aluminum finish, is one going to be easier to paint? I'm I crazy for even asking?

Mine has a light red/gray ceramic type coating that has proven to be very durable. The install wasn't cheap, but was fun, simply travel to SE Utah, run some trails in the wet and you will be rewarded with a permanent ceramic type exhaust coating! :hillbilly:

LOL - that stuff is permanent!

I think the engine paint is the better of the two. It should stick to more different types of metals, like you would find on an engine: aluminum, stainless, cast iron, mild steel, maybe even chrome, if you scuff it up a bit. John

I can attest to the permanency of the coating - when we took the header off my engine, I think half the weight was of UT origin

and I have the stickers to prove it ;p
