Doing some swapping here with some new exhaust manifolds...

Here are some pics.

Those of you with HG experience, how do the deposits look aroung the #6 port?

(The dark brown is just PB Blaster that soaked into the mud caked on the engine block).

Always some new projects.....

Cheers.

Because I like the bling of the new ones...:grinpimp: :grinpimp:

For real though Doug, I had serious exhaust escaping from both of the front and rear gaskets and I figured why not replace the manifolds too....

Probably not necessary at all, I know, but fun nonetheless.

Take the old ones to a race shop and see what they'd charge you to polish the insides of the runners. At least that way you could sell them as cores here to someone who wanted to do the same but didn't want the down time.

Could polishing really help?

devo

It can help some by reducing restriction and possibly improving scavenging, nothing I would pull the manifold for but wile you have them off might be a good afternoon project.

maybe a shop could figure out a way to cut and turn them for turbo use.

how bad was it to remove all the bolts from the EM?

nice shot of the oil cooler too...

PB Blastered the nuts about one hour before I started tearing into it hoping only the nuts would come off but not the studs with the torx socket ends.

No go....10 of the 13 studs came out with the nuts. New ones on the way.

Not bad at all. job. Getting them back on might be a bit tougher....

the nuts and studs are easy to separate with a vice and an extra nut. add a little anti seize to the threads and they'll spin right off once you get'em started.
