Anyone know were any stock exhaust coupler flanges can be found maybe aftermarket. Need a set of four newer style 40 series. Borrowed a picture found on Mud of the type in question. No Toyota part numbers, other thank the gasket PN 90917-06024.

I'm pretty sure any competent exhaust shop should be able to help you out.

Edit-never mind, I thought you were asking about the gasket between the manifold and the exhaust flange. My bad.

No problem

Think this at least the second thread on this subject you have posted. You should said which flange you are talking about since the one at the manifold uses a different gasket so very possible a different flange. The gasket number you posted is for the ones past the manifold. These are the same as the 60 series 2f we had in this country. Those would be easier to find used here than the 1/79+ FJ40 which is when the three flange started. Before I ship parts I have in Australia would see if the muffler are available there. One the parts is a rear axle so shipping a muffler with should be fairly cheap. May try to source some used flanges as well since only piece the exhaust I show a price for is the muffler.

If you can find a used/discarded FJ60 CAT, those flanges are the same.

As I stated in the posts, it's the coupler flange (not manifold flange) that is located usually were the CAT on the US models just before the muffler, just behind the drivers floor area.
A few weeks ago I did put a post on "parts wanted" and am PM-ing all the guys who are parting out FJ60's, so far nothing. I have done a lot of research in this so I'm up on what and were they were used, just not getting any replies on this.
What Spike Strip shows in his pictures are what I am looking for. Should have the 2" center for the pipe, 3.25" from center hole to center hole for the bolts, and the recess for the Toyota gasket mentioned.
Had a lot of guys ask me on PMs if I have had any luck, of course not yet, which brings me to just possibly just having a load made and offering them to the folks like myself that needs some. Spike Strip, can you give me the dearth and how wide that recess is on that flange, incase I have some made up.
Spike Strip, you are also right, I should also be including the CAT in my Parts Wanted, I keep forgetting to include that.

Thanks guys..

The recess is about 1/4" and very shallow, maybe 1mm. My caliper is non-functional at the moment (stinking batteries!), so I had to use a tape . Can get exact measurements in a day or so.

Also, doesn't have to be Toyota OE CAT

Any OE-style (bolt in) aftermarket CAT, like this Magnaflow, will have them. A 'good' mom 'n pop muffler shop should have or be able to get them. The 3-bolt style flange is common and cheap, even in stainless; it's trying to find them with that recess for the stupid ring-gasket that Toyota uses that is hard.

I guess to me the flanges on the manifold to header pipe is just as much a coupler as the header pipe to CAT, CAT to exhaust pipe, exhaust pipe to muffler. Since Toyota doesn't sell just the flanges the term coupler is just that not a Toyota term. I only find the term gasket used for all of them, not all except the manifold to header pipe.

Again when searching for a CAT don't forget the 60 series. The 1/79-7/80 California CAT and 8/80+ CAT on the 40 series is the same part number as the one used on the 60 series. Quick search in the parting out section of the classifieds it's real easy to see finding them off a 60 series will be easier then a late model 40 series.

Living in the past, your cool I know what you mean, I just hope that I am telling it right, seems as I am getting weary of the hunt for the ever so elusive flange. The main picture at the top is a manifold picture but I was using it for reference, that was my mistake. I did go back on the parting out section for the FJ60 series and put out some feelers for a used CAT.
Spike Strip, I did come across that CAT in my search, it maybe cheaper that having some made. Yeah that one has no recess but a good machine shop could make that in no time, if they have the time.
Thanks guys

For the cut cat, it wouldn't work on a one-piece-casting '75 2F. The bolt-hole-pattern isn't the same, this one lacks the symmetry between the holes.

They're not difficult to have made if you have a template from the muffler, CAT, or the like.

Also SOR lists a used exhaust pipe flange with 2" of pipe, which is a pricey option.

I would contact a few of the people parting FJ60s and see if they have any decent flanges in the exhaust. It has to be a FJ60 since the FJ62 the flange changed to a two bolt. Was lucky to be given a very clean 60 series muffler to use on FJ62. Only different is the inlet flange. 60 series is longer and had a piece for my 79 to go back to a stock muffler that the inlet was welded.

Got a message last night from a machine shop in the next town over form were live and said to stop by Monday with information on what I need and he will take a look, maybe I got lucky most are telling me they do not make one or two items mostly a lot of 50 or more.
jgeoffr, great picture thanks.

SOR is suggesting that they are the same for '75 to '87? The bore in the early manifold/OD of the knife-edge-gasket, was like 3.187," and not a 120 degree bolt-hole-pattern as in the flange images?

Pretty sure the 75-78 the flange at the muffler is four bolt. The one at the manifold would be three which means need to be sure what they are for. Muffler can always be welded. Making your own header pipe going to need a flange to connect to the exhaust manifold. Those fit the 75-87 time line.

There is some confusion here --

The 3-hole 2F Flange at the TOP of the headpipe, that bolts to the Exhaust MANIFOLD is not the same as the 3-hole flanges at the end of the head pipe, stock muffler ends, and head of tailpipe - And later stock CATs. The Muffler/CAT end is symmetrical.

Correct, still good point.

Somewhere in my junk I have a head pipe from a 60. Will look this week for it.
