Finally after much deliberation (and owning a 60 series) i went out and bought a brand new LC200. I had then found out about the EX.R and cruiser since it wasn't advertised in the dealer's brochure and took the deal!

Driving it home from the dealer :)

My family has always been a hardcore yota family having owned 1 of each generation at some point

My old 60 series (now sold)

A bit of light offroading to break it in

Factory installed air compressor

First upgrades!

ha! nice!!! mabrook!

cant believe you sold the 60!!!!
whats EX.R exactly? specs?

Yeah, it sold to a land cruiser heritage collector for a sweet price so i couldn't resist.

The idea behind the EX.R is that it's supposed to be an Ultra base spec from an equipment point of view. But in this case, my local toyota dealer ordered a standard exterior trim (no extra clips, no wings and skirts) but with a highly spec'd interior....this makes it perfect for the off-road enthusiast since it comes with all the things you need on it installed from the factory like a rear locker, center locker and air compressor. The three levels of trim sold here from lowest to highest: EX.R, GX.R, and VX.R with the last one being the version that the US market gets.

I'll post a picture of my factory spec sheet when i get home

Wow that was one nice 60. Not sure I'd have been able to part with it but I guess there's a time for everything.

Very interested in that factory fitted compressor. Can you please take a closer pic and/or give any further details, manufacturer etc. I want one.!
Thanks Bill

He also left out the most important part... no bloody sunroof to let heat in the cabin and he has got a V8 under the hood. One trim lower is the safari doesn't get the interior goodies, comes with the 4.0 v6 and manual tranny.

I too am interested in more info on the compressor

As promised, here's my specsheet:

After some asking around the air compressor was an additional feature added to Gulf cruisers done by a company called ASV, they do retro fitting for things like reverse cameras, parking sensors, and minor body and interior modifications. They were commissioned to retrofit the first 1000 EXR cruisers straight from the dealer (mine is No.655) The compressor itself is a single piston unit that draws air from inside the cabin and is the size of a small tissue box, its made by ASV and from what they claim will outlast a standard TJM single piston unit, when i compared it to the TJM compressor (which i also have), it was a bit slower in terms of speed, it's hose easily reaches all 4 tires and has a bushwhacker style inflate/deflate head. Here's a pic of the compressor:

More mods!!

and a wash after getting it back from its second service

SWEET!!

Finally got rid of those annoying side steps today.

After a recent offroad trip out on the dunes, i noticed that they seem to like catching crests and digging into dunes and ruining momentum. So off they came and were replaced with factory blanking panels.

Straight out of the parts store

Un-boxing

The naked panel

Un-bolting the old side step

Success!

The end result

Hopefully after all this is said and done it should crest those dunes smoothly and swiftly as a 200 should, more mods to come next week so stay tuned :D
