If the issue is newly developed then before cutting into that I would check vacuum lines and other, more exposed connections.
 
I had a very similar issue in a GM. It ran perfectly fine, except under the heaviest load. Found a critter had chewed the insulation off both wires running to an injector. Under full throttle uphill, they arced, cutting off the injector. It ran fine for anything less than about 80% load. I cut and replaced and never had another issue (with THAT particular part of a GM).
 
Thank you for helping me! Is there a shradder valve to connect to? Where would I connect a fuel pressure gauge?
Sorry to say the truck doesn't come from from the factory with a valve to test the fuel pressure with, so you''ll have to buy one. I'll tell you one thing, installing that test valve is a pain.
