I know-- shortly after i wrote this i decided jasper would be getting my tax return.

I wouldn't go the Jasper route unless you find some people here on MUD that have had a good experience. Do a web search on "Jasper engine forum" and you will get some widely varying experiences. I'm not saying their stuff isn't any good, 'cause I don't know. But if it were my tax return I was spending, I would find an experienced Cruiser mechanic that is known to do quality overhauls, even if I had to tow it several hundred miles. That way, you will still have your engine, not one you swap in with an unknown history--and history is important on these old rigs.

Im looking for a place in/near seattle or everett to take my engine to get rebuilt. Im looking for someone somewhat familiar with the 2f. I know there is a lot of cruiserheads up here so i figured someone would be able to help me out.

Thanks!

First question is are you looking to have someone pull the engine and rebuild it, are you looking to pull the engine and have someone rebuild it, or are you just looking for someone to do the machining and you'll pull it and reassemble?

I'm in Seattle. I had my 3FE rebuilt locally (pulled and rebuilt) and it made it ~12,000 miles and blew a head gasket during that time.

On the second go round I wasn't going to go with anyone that didn't know these engines very well with a long history to prove it. I spent some time looking for someone to either pull and rebuild it or just rebuild it (I'd pull it). There may be someone like that in Seattle but I couldn't find them.

What I did was take my cruiser to W and James at Over the Hill 4x4 in Portland. They've used the same machine shop (Portland Engine Rebuilders) for years. They can do both stock and nice performance build ups and the prices are very good. They pull the engine and POR disassembles, machines, reassemblies and then delivers the engine back to W and James. I've got about 11,000 miles on the rebuild that they did for me. PM me if you want more details.
