Hey guys. Tech question here for a newbie to this section of the forum but a veteran to the Land Cruiser scene.
I own a 2013 LC with 299k miles located in Knoxville, TN.
I’ve owned it since 260k and have taken very good care of her, as did the p.o. according to the service records.
I am getting a knocking sound when I take the truck out of park. It seems like it is coming from the passenger side of the engine bay and I can hear it at idle.
As a precaution I ran premium fuel in it for a couple of fill ups but it didn’t seem to help.
Could it be something with the transmission? Front diff perhaps?
There is also a ticking sound. Timing chain related? I have done lots of research on this matter elsewhere on the internet, but not really any conclusions other than it’s that 5.7 tick?
Note: dealer had been changing my oil the last couple of oil changes because we have been busy buying a new home and moving, but I changed it yesterday and it seems to have at least quieted the knock down. I asked dealer to use 5w30 full synthetic, as that’s what I prefer, but perhaps they went rogue and used 0 weight as indicated on the oil cap. Sorry if this is too wordy, any info is appreciated.

Check motor mounts, and trans mounts, also when the dealer did the oil change I am assuming they said there was no metal shavings in the oil?

I do not think a dealer will put anything else in there than 0W20, so it is worth putting 5W30 back in yourself. It will produce some more pressure, which is good for the timing chain actuator and film thickness in generally, unless you need 0W20 for real low temp conditions. Which part of the country are you?
