My 2018 200 threw up a check engine light while traveling cross country and Toyota dealership is being less than helpful and might have time to check and scan for code. Traveling with family of 4 and pets, so in a bit of an bind, anyone know of a trusted cruiser shop in Billings, MT?

Thanks in advance!

Checked that gas cap was tight.

I’m not sure of code, I’m at the mercy of Lithia Toyota for them to scan when they have time. So sitting duck for now…

If you came from low and hot to higher altitude over a long drive, it very well may just be an evap code. Check your gas fill area, and see if there are any signs of gas leaking out; if you see that (I assume your car has some dust on it if you are on a road trip) that's probably your code. Gas can boil pretty quick when you are up high, and the car is heat soaked.

I had this happen a bunch on long offroad trips. Having a code reader is super handy for looking these things up, and clearing them once you determine what's going on.

Get a “carista” module to keep in the car. Not expensive, and can use your phone’s Bluetooth for diagnostics and code resets on the road. Basic free level of their app can read and reset codes. Can even program certain functions into the vehicle if those changes are desired.

Edit, don’t mean wait for one now, just a suggestion for the future.

Will check those out, thanks!
