Getting ready to do the fuel filter and hoses. I want to touch up some surface rust where the filter attaches while I have the old one out.

Body color is Thunder Gray if I remember correctly, what’s a good spray paint color for the engine bay?

Thanks

You can get color matched spray paint from a number of different sites online. Just google a few with the color name or code and don’t worry about it being far off.

Looked at it last night, looks like almost a battleship gray in the bay vs the exterior color? Or is it just the base coat color without a clear coat?

Most touchup paint will look matte (no gloss) after allowing time to cure. When you initially apply it, it looks gloss but after about an hour it looks matte. I would order the paint from here:

I’ve been using this stuff for many years, hundreds of different cars (for work). Stuff is great. Does take a few weeks to ship though so that’s a downside if you’re in a rush.

Keep in mind your door jamb paint might be slightly different than the exterior paint and your engine bay paint might not be exactly like the touchup you order because over the years paint changes color due to UV exposure and heat exposure (engine bay).

If it is just touch up underneath the mounts or a small area, I would consider going brush rather than spray.
