I'm having a weird electrical problem that only shows up after a car wash. First it started with the "Check Tire Pressure Management System" indicator going off. Now I've noticed that I can't fold the mirrors in or adjust the mirrors. It isn't a fuse, as it will work occassionally. I'm hoping it will clear up again as it has in the past once everything dries out. I suspect water is getting into a plug, etc. Any suggestions on where to start looking? 2013 model year.

1. If your windshield has been replaced - prime suspect

2. Clogged sunroof drains are close second

Have you had your windshield replace recently? This thread and links to other threads should give you some info on where to look. 200 Series - Electrical Issues - Any advice or feedback? - https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/200-series-electrical-issues-any-advice-or-feedback.1253933/page-2#post-13937527

Personally, I would check the driver's side footwell first for moisture. That bottom rocker panel is easy to remove and reveals some wiring harnesses and modules under the dash.

Check the driver and passenger side kick panel area for moisture. Check the electrical connectors for signs of corrosion. I have read of cases where water gets in the electrical connectors in those areas and caused electrical gremlins.

Thanks for the help. I just checked the drains and they appear to be working. The windshield is the original one. Where specifically should I look for corroded cables? Inside the cabin, or outside?

Did you check for wet carpet or signs of moisture around the interior kick panel area in front of the front door sill (both the DS and PS)?

I did and didn't find any, but it very well may have dried up. Years ago, I did notice moisture in the floorboard in the front passenger area. The symptoms have cleared for now. I left my hood open with the engine hot and that appears to have done the trick.

I think you need to find the leak. It will only worsen the connector corrosion over time. If it happens after a car wash, spay all around the windshield and sunroof with a lot of water and then go see where water is getting in. The hood open likely did nothing because I think the water is inside.

Thanks. I'll give that a go. I normally park in the garage, so it doesn't see a lot of moisture ordinarily. The car was definitely triggers it though.

I think I had a similar problem but with rain.

Here's a breakdown of the issue and fix

This.
Pop off bottom door sill…look under the forward-most of the revealed area. Look for signs of water.

When water runs down the a pillar on driver, it cascades over many many exposed wire harnesses…and worse, it can pool to partially submerge the lower-most, huge harness.

Adding to that…

Next time you go through your car wash… note whether at any point it shoots high-pressure water directly downward at roof. At my favorite car wash, there is a roof-specific arm that sweeps side to side with extreme pressure. You’ll know because you can both see and hear it.

In the same way a WaterPik tooth cleaner forces water preddure between even super-tight teeth…that high-pressure roof pressure-washer stream easily shoots water between the seal around your sunroof pressing a bit against the perimeter of your sunroof hole.

If the above happens, the valume can be high enough that even an UN-clogged set sunroof drains are quickly overwhelmed…and the result is massive water ending up at the top above front doors, and then down a-pillar.

Ask me how I know…

In my case it was eventually provable. I simply stuck duct tape across the seal…bridging from the sunroof glass side accross the seal to the roof side…and poof…the pressure jet was stopped. No more massive leak (although a much slower leak was still an issue through Prinsu’s iffy attachment spacer/bolt method which invites water at a lower rate).
