Hi all,
I’ve always lusted after a 100 or 200 series and fate brought me to purchase one which randomly popped up on marketplace 5 miles down the road!
It’s a 2011 4.5 V8 diesel with a pretty good spec. It’s done 120,000 miles and is in fantastic condition underneath and under the bonnet. I managed to pick it up at significantly less than market value. I absolutely love it and expect that this will be the beginning of a lifetime of Land Cruiser ownership!
However…
I have a number of electrical issues, most of which I was aware of at purchase. This appears to be down to water ingress.
I have done a search of the forums but some posts relating to these issues are old and I expect there will become greater knowledge of these issues as the 200 series age. I was also wondering if some of these problems may be linked to one another.
1. Stereo does not power on (nav screen works). Bluetooth also does not attempt to connect.
2. Climate control error - fan blows but it would appear that the servos to control flow are not operating. I can hear the air conditioning compressor switch when I press the AC button on the dash.
3. Master window switch operates drivers window only (99% of the time). Auto up/down on driver’s is a bit unpredictable. Door lock button is also dead. I have read about the calibration procedure but this has not helped and I assume, given that it will operate the other windows occasionally, that it’s a connection or something failing. When the headlights are on, only the driver’s window switch is illuminated. Whilst driving, the other window switch lights on the master switch sometimes flicker. I do have code B1206 for this.
4. Sunroof often takes 3+ attempts to close the last couple of inches, although doesn’t appear stiff or under heavy load. Also lots of wind noise whilst closed, slightly reduced by opening upwards a little.
5. Total park assist failure. Continuous beep for a few seconds upon selecting reverse, no light on parking sensor master switch. Rear camera feed does not appear on the information screen.
I hope that some of the above will be down to poor connections behind the dash or in the footwell. It would be great if somebody could point me towards any specific connectors which may relate to the above. I’m pretty handy with a multimeter if anyone has a wiring diagram?
Other than that, I guess I’m looking at replacing rather costly modules but given the scarcity of these vehicles in the UK, there’s not much opportunity to buy used parts or run tests using somebody else’s window switch, for example.
Any help is greatly appreciated! If anybody in the UK knows of any wizards with the 200 series, I’m happy to invest in some skilled labour to get it sorted.
James
