Looks good:beer:

An FYI for anyone that might have gotten in on the first ones. I had a problem installing mine. The bolts supplied bottomed out with about 5mm to go. Talked with Christo about needing shorter bolts.

Other than that it fit just fine.

I did my install today. As no one has posted any pics of what it looks like under the truck I will do so. (Slee's are on a bench) I also had the long bolt issue as mine was one of the first ones delivered. I just cut them off. What was 4 simple bolts turned out to take much longer than planned due to clearance issues with tools. The bottom two bolts are easy with an extension. But the top two kind of a bitch honestly. I found the pulling the RR tire helped a bunch, rather than laying on my back under the truck.

Reviving this thread - so in the last 10 years, somehow the front actuator guard disappeared from the market and we now only have the rear actuator guard? Or, someone still sells a front actuator guard?

Or, someone still sells a front actuator guard?

Low Range Off Road
Lots of options on Google
The problem with the replacement guards is that they leave the wiring and connectors exposed (mud, snow, sticks etc).
Skid designs are better in that they protect the locker and you can still use the OEM guard that protects the wiring - its only purpose.
Looking at above Slee and Wild West rear guard pictures - you will see the connectors that otherwise would be covered by the OEM guard left to the elements.
Kinda important - right?

Thanks for reviving the thread. I needed this info :)

Hi- just picked up this up back in 12/2020 part of a nice sale they had going on plus some HD TRE from 555. I give it a 4 out 5 of price due to quality, price and fact I couldn't get all 4 screws back on. I could not post a review on Marlin site but figure I will share here.

Note: the MCAR-523 Electric Locker Motor Guard is designed to fit : FJ80 / FZJ80 High Pinion E-Lockers and Tacoma/4Runner/FJ Cruiser rear axle E-Lockers. Note: These guards do not fit 2012+ FJ Cruiser rear locker motors.

The Good:
  • Sturdy
  • Zinc Plated
  • Pretty thick
  • You can remove it if you plan to sell your rig to swap into one of the above mentioned rigs as this part has cross compatibility.

The Bad:
  • One of 12mm to the top right, must be omitted. Plan to put some gasket maker to prevent the hole from getting lodged with dirt and becoming a cesspool for dirt which will lead to rust.
  • You could fix the above with an angle grinder or such, but may compromise the unit as it is right at where a top structural weld occurred.
  • The horizontal flat, comes RIGHT up against the round bottom part of the actuator.

This is just my $0.02 so good luck y'all. I will be ordering the SLEE rear actuator protector in a few weeks... It is SLEE so pretty sure it is as good as it gets.
