I can picture the moment you "tweaked" and "molested" it. 🤣
and the puzzled/pissed look on my face about why the same part doesn't just bolt in and work as designed.🤣
shytty part is that rod is pressed on (captured) and can't be simply swapped. :bang:

I'm right there with ya. Tailgate too. I hate when you gotta jack with them to open.

I just picked through my 3 sets of doors and I'm using the best of what I have. And the best needs some TLC after all these years. I'm cleaning rubber seals on the vent windows and scraping off fossilized, AZ sun baked window tint. You know.....fun stuff. At least I have access to my tools.

Your Bandito Rojo is a cool rig. šŸ‘

The back seats look like they have more room than the modern Tacoma. I wish we had gotten SFA diesel 4 doors in the states as I’ve thought they looked cool and useful.

had we not let the market get dictated by fat white chicks we would have 🤣
it's absolutely ridiculous we didn't see them until 02. literally everyone else got them in 70s.
id eventually like to score a 79-83 style or a bulletside datsun. still few and far between here, but they do exsist.

today I did some work on the driver door. pulled the lock solenoid and fixed a rattle. fixed the clock. added the most important feature, tunes. 🤣 i went way too long in the 4Runner with just a bt speaker. this diesel is noisy and real tunes are necessary. truck came with decent pioneer 6x9s. just had an outdated head unit stacked with the non functional oe unit. :bang:
maybe double din didn't exsist when it was swapped 🤣

So I’m sure you must have mentioned it, but where are you located? Sounds like you’ve only been there a short amount of time. Just curious on your story…

we are in paraguay. almost two months. i can't really tell my story here because of the black hand. šŸ˜‰

Double Din stereos are a nice upgrade. I like having Apple car play/Android Auto if I’m going somewhere new. Or even to watch for cops on the maps.

not much for updates here. currently waiting for mc front inners to permanently stop the stupid axle leaking.
i did get some more kms logged. wife and i did a day trip two weeks ago to see some more of the country.
my ewds finally showed up. took these 30 days from Germany to Paraguay. then with the holidays i just got them from the city today.

in all actuality it appears the cobblestone roads hold up pretty darn good vs blacktop. 🤣
there are definitely some more rural "roads". we actually had to use 4wd for a few meters on the road to the lookout because it was like being on marbles. we also drove around some people who brought a lesser vehicle and ended up having to hike to the top. 🤣

Will it make it to all 5's???
will it? probably. it will be some time though, as it not really a commuter of any sort. math says it's four+ years of average commuting in the states. 67.7k miles🤣
so maybe in 15 ish years or so.

the other math says it would probably be cheaper to kz-t swap it vs simply adding a turbo to this setup.....
not doing any kind of efi/direct injection swap. that would entirely defeat the purpose of me even having/keeping a diesel powered vehicle. i know a lot of people really dig on d4d stuff, but those will all be dead after an emp. allegedly. :hmm:

the ac has been an issue since day one with this turd. three + mechanics with no clue leads me back to where i started, doing it myself 🤣
placed an order with RA this morning. denso pump, dryer and valve. AM condenser and core. (denso na)
i will grab gauges, vacuum pump and frezon here shortly.
today i tore off the damage multiplier and valance to get them out of the way.
i hate those "grille gaurds" and I will end up putting an 8274 on here when my stuff eventually arrives.
