a best top is like $650 plus shipping which I bet is close $100-200 so really..

$1400 is not that bad of a deal for an OEM style top and OEM style bows...

:)

I added it all up for me though, on this group buy, even with some tips for Alex, $1010, so that was really pretty good. Still need a little spray paint, but I am very happy overall.

I have been looking for some small grommets, like you would use on a belt ot something, but have not found anything locally yet. I thought that would be the most bullet proof way to make the holes. But with the vinyl and the nylon strap inside, they probably won't go anywhere.

Yeah, I was looking too for the same thing, smallest size is a 00 grommet, bout a 3/16" hole which is kinda big. Something like the grommets that are on military pistol belts would work real nice

Alex, for mine, I have the vinyl top, and the straps are made of folded over vinyl which are real nice, so no fraying issued like the nylon straps

What about something from this company?

Siska Inc. - Apparel Eyelets and Washers

Yeah, that's about a 1/8" grommet, a wee bit smaller than the 00(3/16"). Only red-ass with those are you have to have a press for those little guys, though some do work with a die. Kinda like the dies for the twist lock grommets, you have to buy or borrow the die/press. Thankfully we have a flight equipment shop that actually has and installs twist lock grommets, which is nice

Alex,

since I have installed the top my cruiser has been basically a daily driver.... with that my windows have been up and down alot. I have had no problems at all with the holes in the straps. They are just as tight today as the day I poked through them with the awl.

I finally got mine installed!
I still need to paint my bows.
