2nd Gen 08 5.7 with relatively low miles. Almost 60k on the dial and all stock. Posting in hopes some of you may have some input on this. Every now and then when I punch it on the highway while passing I get an egg smell. It seems to happen when the weather is warmer and notice it more when the windows are down. I didn't happen at all over the winter with the heat on. Any one else experience similar issues with the 5.7?

That smell is hydrogen sulfide. Your catalytic converter normally converts that to sulfur dioxide (which has no odor) but when you "stomp" the gas then it can get temporarily overloaded. If you can smell it all the time then your catalytic converter is bad. Hydrogen sulfide can be detected around 0.1ppm by the way so it doesn't take much to notice the odor.

Long story short, nothing to worry about.

Id bet on bean n cheese burritos and a slippery sphincter when you get on the gas. Just dont push the pedal soo hard and if that fails theres a product called Beano. The toughest route is laying off the burritos......

Long story short, theres lots to worry about here

The 02’ I used to have and my 14’ now both did it. You notice how dirty the tailgates get on these?? It’s like a wind vortex back there! I’ve always thought there’s gotta be a way to put those racing fins under the rear bumper to shoot the wind and exhaust out and away from these vehicles.

True indeed just yesterday I noticed how much dirtier the back end of the headliner is compared to the rest.

Actually one of the first things I noticed!
