Hi All,

So my current problem with my 60 Landcruiser 2h Diesel is the EDIC control rod is not moving when i turn the key to on. Then when i crank the engine over, the control rod is still set to off. When i manually move the rod to on and turn the key the engine starts. I bought a second hand Fuel Control relay and did not fix the starting issue.

I have limited experience with 4x4 and after searching related threads, there are some discussion to have a manually bypass for the EDIC motor however it seems a bit complicated.

So i was wondering if i can use a simple idea where i can run cables through pulley and the firewall into the cabin. The idea is to have two cables, one to pull the rod to start and one to pull the rod to off to stop the engine. So the main question is what problem can this cause if i do this?

Regards
TR

You can find all of that info if you use the search . Some people use a choke type cable to push/pull for a manual start stop setup . It will take away the low oil protection built into the edic system . As long as you are okay with that then go ahead .

Manual set of the fuel lever in the IP is not complicated .. it only have 3 position and actually can be reduced to 2 .. fuel and shut off .. so meanwhile you are dealing with your EDIC system .. use a cable and switch between fuel and shut off .. since other position it's overfuel ..

I am under same situation as EDIC is not working and stopping engine through Cable. There is one question in my mind, IP has 3 positions...Overfuel, Run and stop. So IP will be in Overfuel and Stop( whenever Cable is pulled). Please comment I may be right or wrong?

If the 3B and 2H control rods operate the same (probably), then you are correct that if you pull the rod all the way back it will be in overfuel position. You can eliminate overfuel if you limit how far you can pull the cable/control rod.

I have HJ60 with 2h, thanks for suggestion Essar 5. Could let me know how can I find whether my OIl sender unit is ok or not. I have have found my old EDIC which will be repaired at electronic shop in a day or 2 but I suspect there is something wrong with the Oil sender unit.

You would get a better response in the diesel section I'm sure..

If your oil pressure sender is failed or you have no oil pressure that might be the cause of it not working. Do you get any funny cycling on the relay?
It's one system for me I want to keep functional. While you can go to a cable system, I don't like that idea. If you do go a cable system you need a light attached to oil pressure sender, so you can see a warning if the oil pressure fails.
