The 97 we just bought had its tailpipe bent down slightly. Before buying a new section of exhaust, I thought I'd try bending it back up with a floor jack. Disconnected the rear bracket and put a piece of rubber under the rear edge of the resonator muffler back there to push against. Pushed up, but the pipe flexed and simply sprang back down. Then I pushed a piece of 2X4 between the exhaust pipe and the cross member slightly behind the axle to jam the pipe dowward as far as possible. Also removed the part of the exhaust bracket that bolts to the frame. Easily bent it up to stock height, so wondered if I could tuck it up a bit. No problem - moved it up an inch or so. Then replaced the bracket on the frame, and used a pair of stainless hose clamps around the resonator and rubberized part of the bracket to hold it in position. Worked perfectly. For those who're constantly dragging their pipes this might be of help.
