I would be down for some exploring as well. Its quite a drive to head out for just a day trip for me though. I have been out exploring in the national forests on day trips before and ended up getting home pretty late and tired. Next tim I head out there I def plan on camping out the whole weekend.

if you need another scouter, I would love to join steve. We are heading out on a 5 day trek tommorow around wnc. Call me if you are in the area.

Thanks! I'll be stuck in TR working. Business is up a bit so I have to put the hours in. The :princess: and I plan to schedule hopefully three major camping/expedition exploring trips this summer in WNC and GA and I'll let y'all know when that happens. Beside those most of my trips will be day trips.

I do have several day long routes available in far WNC and TN...not any hardcore wheeling but lots of back roads. Y'all might like those... :D

glad business is up for somebody, it seems slow everywhere else.

We are heading out today around 2, looks like rain till next wed in the WNC forcast. If you get a chance, shoot me some of those day trails/roads in an email today. Would be cool to look over them while we are out.

Post em up! Have a good trip TJGUZZY...welcome to the forum!

You've probably already left but all that information is in my office and I'm out of the office today until late tonight. You can call me tomorrow and I'll give you some road names/numbers.

Would y'all want to set up some exploration dates this summer in WNC? Give me until June or so and I'll hopefully have some good routes mapped out to explore. Who knows what the roads will look like - they may be graded and graveled or they may not - we will have to put rubber on the ground to find out!

I'm interested as well. Pretty much open during the summer!

Anything before July and I would be intrested.

Sounds good. I could probably get some mapping quickly done in a few weeks but a couple of months will be better. I'll get with the :princess: and try to shoot some dates out there.

I would also consider going out to Alligator River NWR and the bombing range in the Eastern part of the state (Engelhard area). They'll close the trails when they bomb, I'd hope they'd scout to see if anyone was on them before they did it! :) Definitely not a place to go in the summer, but probably good in October-November...

Sorry guys - I've been swamped the past month and have only made a little progress. I'll try to get a few of the longer routes mapped out through WNC and eastern TN ASAP and post them up on my website. Maybe I can get a few routes mapped out, enough for a weekend of exploring... :D

Little update!

I'm working on one, maybe two routes in WNC that flop over into TN. Base camp will be Crawford's Campground outside Murphy, NC. Crawford's is the campsite that was used by GSMTR before it moved. The owner of Crawford's, Danny, has been very helpful with these routes.

If you have a dual sport bike this would be a good time to bring it too. Might not be a bad idea to have some 'scouts' to send ahead! I'm pretty sure you could easily outrun my Pig on a dual sport...or even on foot! :grinpimp:

Wanna set a long weekend for exploration? Maybe a Fri, Sat, Sun or even throw in half a Thurs?

I'm very interested...

Friday might be tough with my work schedule, but I can do a weekend for sure.

Though, the next few weekends leading up to STR will be pretty busy for me.

I'm thinking at least 6 weeks out, gotta be careful as GSMTR will be coming up also. I picture arranging this so anyone could meet up and join the trek at anytime. Probably use Crawford's Campground as a base camp but we might camp somewhere along the route a night.
