Subject says it all I can't get the dang defrost knob off. How do I do this without destroying it?

yes because I did a search before I asked. :) I didn't find anything on how to get the def knob off without destroying the knob or bending the metal.

There is a specific Phillips that's fits the screw head, push as hard as you can and hold the knob while turning. if you feel the head starting to give then use a few drops of "knocker-loose"

Nope no screw in there. Turns out the PO had just put a whole lot of what looks like wood glue in there and then just stuck the thing on. Of course when I tried to get it off it broke and I had to epoxy it back together.
