I need to connect a small vacuum hose to the vacuum advance mechanism on an older non-US distributor. The advance mechanism looks like this:

A fitting and a short section of tubing should get me what I need. Does anyone have some old stuff laying around?

Thanks for checking. If you can at least confirm what type of fitting I need I can do a more thorough search on the Internet. I'm hoping it's not an old Toyota proprietary fitting.

I'm hoping that this is the same thread as that on my F distributor:

It's for a '65-'66 Ford Mustang. I found a similar fitting for older Volkswagens. The Mustang replacement kit (pipe and a fitting at each end) is only $12.99. I might order a kit out of curiosity, it might just fit.

This is for the Volkswagen (with Bosch distributor), more than likely it's metric:

I found this 36hp vacuum line VW distributor advance vacuum line (line with fittings at both ends) at Wolfsburg West in Corona, CA. I sent them an e-mail requesting details on the fitting's thread size and pitch. These were used on VW engines with Bosch distributors, so the fittings are more than likely metric. Keeping my fingers crossed.

P.S. Is there anyone close to Corona that can head over to Wolfsburg West to check this out? They're at 2850 Palisades Drive, right off the Riverside Freeway (CA 91).

After more research I stumbled across this type of fitting - it's a threaded sleeve nut or double compression fitting. Used extensively on hydraulic and pneumatic systems, applications include older Ford and Chevrolet distributor vacuum, oil pressure gauges, etc. Apparently also used on Volkswagens and others makes. The one below for 1/8" tubing has a 5/16-24 thread. I'll take one of the FJ40 fittings to Albuquerque tomorrow to see if I can source one with the correct threads.
