hi guys,

Really would love to have some help on this one...
basically the 1st speed doesn't work, only the second speed. I have checked the connections in the knob and they are perfect, i have also checked the wiring(from what i could see because the wiring dissapears in the main arnas) and they seem fine also. is there any relay or could the problem come frome the motor itself?fyi the wipers and motor are on the upper side of windshield.

many thanks for your advice

Gerald

do you hear motor?

can you hear the motor turning/working at low speed? post up a picture so we have a visual.

motor runs fine but only in 2nd position, i will take some pictures tomorrow...it really looks like a problem in the pull knob but after deassembling it all connections look perfect

i've found this great thread after searching https://forum.ih8mud.com/40-55-series-tech/197741-wipers-intermittently-fail-home.html

I already see that i'm completley missing the pin/ball switch and the blade to blade switch seen in pic n°2 of thread n°13 but this only tells the wipers when to stop(mine simply stops when turning the switch off but won't go "home", not a big deal though) but this shouldn't change the fact that the first speed doesn't work and the second speed does...

:bang:

Try this page:Wiper Wiring Science <<<<< This is a LINK ! Click it!

About the only thing it could be is the switch or the wiring. See the link for how the switch works. It's super simple to take apart and clean it. Just follow the page through and you should find your issue quickly.

Good Luck!

:clap:SUPER THANKS coolerman!

I will go over everything this evening with this great write up, just one question, could it be that the brush from the low speed in the motor is worn out? because the switch is really fine, the wiring also so my guess goes to the brush, is this possible?

if yes where could we find this?

and another thing, like mentionned earlier, i'm missing the parking switch, the red ball is still present though. is there a partnumber for this for ordering at toyota or would it be possible to make my own?

We can find many parts for 1979 through 84 here in Belgium but 75 is getting tricky

and thanks again for your help!

It's possible the brush could be worn out, but I would doubt it. More likely a wire has come loose or unplugged. I also doubt you can order that switch. Best bet is to find a used motor. That would solve both your problems! :D

i doubt it to find a second hand one, certainly in 24V:D

or i can put a 12V and end up with SUPER speed and SUPER DUPER SPEED :-)

I will check the wiring with the meter this evening:bounce:
