I have a new-to-me 2004 LX, with 75k. Yes, it is an awesome machine. But it has the timing belt sticker, noting that this service was done at 45k when it was 5 years old. Any reasons, besides extreme paranoia, that anyone can think of for such an early service? Maybe water pump went out early?

Could've been possibly a water pump failure, but, possibly also a timing belt age replacement recommended by the dealer.

I wouldn't worry about it, I would be thankful someone has already done it for You!

;-)

If the service was done at a Lexus dealer you can create an account for the VIN at My Lexus and see all of the service that was done. That may give you a better idea of why the early t-belt job was done. For example, if you see that maybe a cam seal was replaced then of course they'd do the timing belt while they already had it out.

Thanks...did that and the only other item at the time was ALF INSTALL STEERING FITTING KIT & SUPPORT KIT - L. But I think that was a recall item. I'm guessing that the t-belt was dealer recommended due to age (I was initially wrong--it was 7 years old at the time).

Rich, single, gullible, female owner + unscrupulous dealer = early replacement...

I did mine early, not that early though, due to age vs mileage. I think I did mine around 83K.

Exactly. I am guessing it was done at 6 years and not 5 as I believe that to be the dealer interval. Regardless of mileage. Granted I did not do mine at that early yearwise, but I did replace my T-Belt at 73,000 miles last April.

Mine was done by the PO at 6 yrs/63K miles, along with the water pump...

Think I did mine too early?

I had a 1998 with 58k miles back in 2007, did the timing belt and water pump and based on the looks of the timing belt and the leaking of the water pump it never would of made it to 90k miles. It was a southern AZ 100 so it experienced a lot of dry heat. It was rust free :).

. Sorry forgot it was a 1999, Toyota does state 90k miles or 7years.

138,000 miles...and still feeling the rush every time I punch the pedal.

Mine was done by the original owner at 73123. I'm @ 153 now so looking at getting mine done in a bit.
