Anyone use these? Following is a supposedly unbiased test. I never heard of these before today.

Looking at E3 Spark Plugs
By Christopher A. Sawyer, Executive Editor Chris's Bio Write Christopher

Norman Garrett, director of Engineering, E3 Spark Plugs www.e3sparkplugs.com is used to the incredulous looks he gets when he talks about the company's DiamondFIRE spark plugs. All he has to do is mention how a change in electrode design–from a single J-shaped piece with rounded corners to a three-legged unit topped by an open diamond-shaped end piece with square corners–can boost power and fuel economy in any spark-ignition engine, forces air-gap discharges, and creates the preferred edge-to-edge spark path. Then he hits you with this one: "The EPA has written the E3 into its emission rulemaking for engines at or below 19 kW under the company's original 'Pyrotek' name." (It's true.) Although the spark plug is only available in the aftermarket, Garrett and his colleagues are willing to speak to any OEM about fitting the E3 to its vehicles. Here's what else you'll want to know:

* Test results showed the plug measurably increased combustion pressure at each cycle, produced the fastest flame speed and combustion rise of any spark plug, improved power output by an average of 6% in typical engine operating ranges, and –dependent on engine class–reduced fuel consumption by anywhere from 3% to 13%.
*
* During testing at Michigan State, the E3 plug demonstrated a reduction in both hydrocarbon and nitrous oxide emissions across all loads and speeds when tested in a 1998 Ford Escort MPFI four-cylinder engine.
*
* Despite being made of conventional materials, the E3 completed 20 million firing cycles with no performance degradation.

Oyl of the snake.

As I suspected. Thanks, Dan. Also thanks for another perfect transaction. Parts came well packed and as requested.

I bought Bosch Supers, oem cap, & rotor today, then got an email for these from a vendor I use for my BMW. Just thought I'd check. every little bit helps when a 2200 mile trip is nearing. What is the best tire pressue on my Pirelli Spyder 275/70/16's for mpg?

This is the old "Split-Fire" con game. I tried a set in my FJ40. The cruiser actually ran; on 4 cylinders.

...

IIRC Splitfire was involved in a pretty big lawsuit for false claims. These new plugs are in the same boat.

Years ago when I had my 40 I won a set of Splitfires at an event in CO. Just for kicks I put them in and ran then for 10k miles and I have to say that they weren't very good. The rig ran much better with either NGK's or the regular Bosch platinums. Save your $$.

20,000,000 firing cycles = 8000 to 10,000 miles on a land cruiser. (Had to take my shoes off to do that math). I'd hope they would last longer than that. Would they add more hp w/more cylinders. Scientific research involves repeated trials over a variety of circumstances, not just one trial on a 4 banger, then making wild claims. Have to go with C-Dan.

By the way, anybody got the part number for either the NGK or Bosch Platinums for my'91 FJ-80? Thanks in advance.

'91-FJ80 Ms. Piggy, Longfields, brass radiator, crappy Champion lawnmower spark plugs from PO

Your 91 is a 3FE? I have the boxes from my Bosch supers in my truck. I will post them but am not sure you need the same plugs am my 1FZ-FE.

Your 91 is a 3FE?

ya, 3FE. Wasnt being lazy, just wondered if anybody knew off the top of their head.

Denso and NGK part #'s are both listed in your owner's manual as well as your FSM.

I have felt/seen results using iridium plugs vs. oem plugs.

For the 3FE naturally aspirated only,
I tried the iridium tips once. no noticeable difference in performance or in mileage over the BOsch platinums they replaced.
Just my expereince, maybe in a turbo application it matters more.

The Bosch Super # is FR8DC

Just finished replacing my plugs. The Denso plugs that were in there all look great (to me) and seem pretty new (as do the wires and cap/rotor which I bought but did not replace.

Tell me what you think of the plug condition, they are all grayish tan in color.
