I thought about doing the hood but figured heat and gravity would eventually make it fall into the engine. Murphy’s law would then dictate that it lands on the fan and belts causing major unhappiness.
I just ordered a new hood insulator from Toyota, couldn’t believe that they still had them in stock(though it took a week or so since it came from their major warehouse in Ontario CA vs one of their regional parts depots)

I've heard great things about the dynamat hood liner. Its half the price of the OE toyota headliner but sounds like you already got it. Send pics of it after you install it. Maybe its worth it ;)

By the time I finally get to drive my truck (been down for more than a year) I will have forgotten how loud it was before I did the "FatMatt" and carpet job.

I just put some Killmat/noico Amazon mat in the doors of my Cruiser and it makes a huge difference (about 2/3 coverage). I openned and shut my doors for about 10 minutes after I did it because it sounds so much better. I did the rear wheel wells a couple months ago and that also made a very noticeable difference, especially off-road.

The biggest difference in noise seems to below 40mph, highway driving seems pretty similar as it's mostly engine noise at that speed. Need to get a new hoodliner and line the drivers footwell soon.

I’ve had zero issues.
I know they sell a couple of different thicknesses. If I were to do it again I would have out in the thicker option.
other than that, it was perfect.
 
I did my 60 stem to stern with Noico. Definitely less expensive than Dynamat,
same quality and no smells or issues that way. To get the most out of it,
you must do the inner doors and rear quarters. It’s just time to install otherwise
not difficult. It won’t quieten the ride appreciably, but interior sounds will be
fuller with less background noise. Hard to explain, but makes a difference.
I too used a decimetre with slightly lower noise.

Just looked at your build thread for the sound deadening. All I can say is wow! Looks great. Maybe some day I'll find the time... For now, I'll start with the cargo area and move forward. Thanks again
 
I’m going to edit. Since I don’t think decimetre ( noise meter ) translates.
if you have an iPhone. Get this app. It’s actually loads of fun, but my research
showed it to be very accurate.

Great question. I don’t know for sure but I used the thinner of the options but it did cut down on sound and heat. I think the black goo does the sound and the foil does the heat.
if I were to do it again I would probably go with the thicker Noiko if it’s offered.
