The previous $#&@head, I mean owner of my '06 just seemed to not give a damn about his new truck. the carpet has stains all over. He was (was, 'cause he's dead to me) a Harley guy - sticker in the window - and apparently just set parts down wherever. The cargo and tailgate carpets are stained with what looks like rust, grease...

I've tried scrubbing with degreaser, etc. Nothing. So, I want to try that rattle can dye. Anyone know where to find the right color/brand?

Thanks!

If you really like your rig, why not just purchase some new ones?
I believe I've seen on here before, at least one company that has carpet kits for the LC at a very reasonable price.

Maybe it's me, but at a certain point, if I'm going to go through all the trouble of tearing out the carpet and try to dye it, I'd just as soon drop in some new rugs. You may even get a wee bit of that new car smell!

Can anyone chime in on who has the deal on new carpets????

Another note: whatever you wind up dying your carpet, rest assure that you will probably need to dye it at least as dark as the darkest stain that you are trying to mask, otherwise you will still see it. Dyes will not lighten a dark stain.

Just my 2 cents. Wish you the best in whatever direction you decide.

Oh, I'm with you - if I go to trouble of pulling the interior and carpet out, I'm putting in new carpet. I want to try to "spot dye" a few areas, without taking out anything more than the mats.

There is a tan set on car-part.com for $300. They are going to start to have to pay me a commission for how often I recommend.

If it's that messed up, is it really worth all the effort to R&R and dye it? Post some before and after pictures if you go for it.

If I was going to take it out, I would put in rubber instead of carpet. There is a company on Ebay that sells replacements for the 80. Not sure if they make a kit for the 100. They are an Australian company but sell here in the U.S. Carpet sucks and does not lend itself well in a Land Cruiser.

I've been wanting to do the vinyl/rubber flooring for some time. It was OE on the bare bones 105 series. The problem is, if it gets wet underneath, it has to be pulled up otherwise rusty floorboards will ensue.

Since most of the stains are in the cargo area and tailgate, I could just cover the cargo area with a mat... just seems like I'm hiding it though. Maybe I'll replace just those sections of carpet with something "creative"

I'd first try steam cleaning the carpet. Take it out and run a rental rug doctor over it. It's amazing what those things can do. Then, buy a good rubber cargo mat and you're good.

Try Folex as a pretreatment then do the steam clean. If you don't want the hassle of doing it yourself search out a professional detailer and get them to do it. Go to Autogeek.com for info on car care and to help find someone near you that can help you out.

Previos owner's kids spilled grape juice in the back seat on my 100. The cost of a new carpet panel was silly, so a local detail shop did some magic where they charged the carpet somehow and shot colored fibers at the stain. Don't know what type of voodoo process it was, but it worked brilliantly. I can vacuum the carpet endlessly without issue, but was warned NOT to shampoo the area. It's been nearly 8 years now, and you'd be hard pressed to find the stain. Prior to the fix, there was no missing the big purple splotch.

My neighbor's kid spilled a glass of juice on my carpets and had to replace my carpet and for a change I really got very good custom carpets at Nourison You must also check out .

So... you put high-end hotel carpet in your 100? Did you get one of those cool swirly patterns?

Didn't see the H. Inn Express pattern. Eurasia looks like a match though.

LOL to some of the previous comments, chiming in here myself I actually would love to replace my interior carpets (main molded carpet) to black. I would love some input.
