Wish I could go! I did part of it on a motorcycle about 20 years ago. Broke my fly rod when I laid the bike over on the way in, but still caught lots of fish on a fly and bobber settup with my backup ultralight spin rod.
Have fun y'all!

I ran this trail last year just before the trail closed for the season. Due to the fact that one of the guys had to work late, we camped at the base of thompson hill. It was 11 degrees that night.
The group was made of mostly minis and me in my 60.

Mini 1 was setup for hardcore crawling and broke a drive shaft.

Mini 2 was setup the same but with Dana 60's. Kinka wide but only broke the shock mounts in back.

Mini 3, also a crawler, broke the frame near the front spring mount.

I suffered an alternator failure, probably from using my battery to run the welder for mini 3.
Then I destroyed an engine mount.

We only went to Thompson lake and back because of time and two of the minis were trailer towed (not street legal)

I wouldn't mind trying this trail again now that I have 35's and a locker.

Do you have a date for sure yet? Do you have a head count? It's getting close.

Ken

Broke all my piggy bank :crybaby: but I should be ready :D

OK so the date is October 2-5th Thursday through Sunday.

CaliCruiser

If your still wanting to go and not on this list please post up and I'll update the list.

Directions to the trail head are
From Fresno take Hwy 168 east toward Clovis/Huntington Lake

Turn right at Dinkey Creek Rd(The gas station in Shaver is about a mile past Dinky rd)

Just fallow the signs to Courtright/Wishon Lakes

Take the left to Courtright Lake

When you get down to Courtright Lake turn right and go across the dam towards Maxson/Voyager campgrounds.

Once your across the Dam, the trail/gate is about 1/4 - 1/2 mile from the dam

For the guys coming from out of town PM me and I'll give you my cell number if you got any questions.

I'll keep updating this post with updates(Tim, can you edit your first post and quote this post?)

I dont think my cruiser will be trail ready by then. Is there any one who might have an open seat that wants a passenger?

PLEASE!!!!
Get lots of pics!
I wanna do this run someday...maybe next year, as our local club is discussing it.
Cant wait to read the trail report on it!

I might have a seat Keith if I can go. I had something come up that conflicts with the Oct dates so I hope I can still make it. . .

Dylan

Thanks man...
Ive done some long weekend trips without the wife recently that I dont wanna push my luck too much. She's understanding...but that has its limits.
I appreaciate it though. Hope you get to make it too. That's be a drag if you had to miss another.

So am I the only one trailering their junk up there :D ?

If my 60 makes it, I'll probably trailer to somewhere on Rock Creek rd and drive from there. Then after finishing I'll just drive back to Rock Creek and load up.

4.10s, the 2F motor, and 39.5 Iroks aren't a good combo for hitting the 4 lanes.

That sounds like a plan :steer:

I cant wait!

So is Dusy end to end as long as the Rubicon?

I can drive from Camino,up Icehouse, all the way cross the Con,and down into Tahoe on a tank :hhmm:

Should I start fabbing up Gerry can mounts for the trip ;p ?

Yes. It's much longer than Rubicon, the altitude is higher and the terrain is similar. You will need a significant amount of extra gas. In my FJ40 I take 15 extra gallons and usually return to Shaver Lake with less than 1/2 tank.

Shaver is the last gas, then it's 30+ miles to the trail head. the trail is 33 miles with very slow going and high fuel consumption. Then from the end of the trail to civilization is another 30 miles. Don't underestimate the fuel thing. It would be hard to have too much.

Have a great time, I love that trail and think it's the best I've ever travelled.

Then 10 extra gallons it is :hillbilly:

I gots two 5 ga. cans and and two holders,I just gotta glue em on the back of ma junk :D

Sure wish I could go, Stuck at work that weekend. :crybaby:
Maybe next year.
Would be nice to hook up with a bunch of 60's on that trail.

Keep me in mind next time you plan a trip up there.

I'd like to try for another 60 run next year. This one turned into 1 maybe 2 60s but still a group of great guys to wheel with.

Dusy's always a good reason to get after the Jerry can holder projects we all put off. Let me know if you need any help.

I have an idea. And I dont want anything permenant being that Im a little rushed.I have a mount thingy that I used to use on my K5 that slides into the hitch and holds two cans.Im gonna cut it up and make it fit the back of the 55.

I will make something cool and swing out later :D

SO .... how was the Dusy Run!?!?!

I'm hoping you guys took lots of pics to share here on MUD
