Hi Guy's, I am awarding MYSELF, the DUMB S*** of the YEAR AWARD, based on what I messed up this afternoon ,...I had mistakenly installed my new carrier bearings first,...on my new ARB locker, BEFORE, installing and torqueing the ring gear on,...Looking back,...I could have still made this work with no problems,...but THAT'S if I had it to do over again,...
I heated the ring gear in the oven, and it slipped right on, and I hand tightend 2 opposing bolts as I cut the 2 zip tyes, so far so good, It was very awkward to try to torque the ring gear trying to hold it by myself, and I remembered seeing how in the instructions, they tightened one end in the vice with the ring gear and nuts facing up, So, I went to the vice, and of course the only place left to grip it was the stub out past the carrier bearing where the air seal go's, well, I didn't want to mar the stub, so I put shop rags on the vice jaws and tightened it, With nobody to help hold it, it was still awkward trying to get 85Ftlbs. on the nuts. (with blue locktite of course).
When I was all done, and took it out, the end looked like this
