I wanted to see if there would be any interest in dual battery trays for group 31 batteries. This would allow for bigger better batteries. The trays would be located in the factory locations, pass and driver side front wheel wells. Ill have some photos to follow.

Well darn. Just ordered my 2nd tray from Slee last night.

A 31 group battery fits perfectly in the factory battery tray already.

However, I’m interested to see what you come up with for the passenger side.

Just wandered out and did some quick measurements. Not saying it's not possible, but it's gonna be very tight. It will require completely relocating the PS fluid reservoir, probably behind the air box. It will hit the oil dipstick, and there's big hose in the way too.

Interested to see how this pans out...

Passenger side is a tight fit but it is possible and you are correct it does require relocating the ps reservoir. The kit would include the items needed to do it all.

Even the type 35 in Slee’s tray requires moving the res, but doesn’t require different tubing. It just turns and then connects to the Slee tray.

I would consider a second type 31 if it fits because I feel identical batteries are what I need. Right now I’ve put a second type 35 in my main slot...just to match slot two. But it is tiny compared to my 31.

Two 31’s would be great.

I did a custom mount to hold two 35s on driver side. Used a Slee mount for 3rd batt on passenger side.

@beretta
Hmmm...I already have those exact two 35’s...if those are Oddysey agms...

More details on your install and management would be great.

Here are a few pics

Nice, I had that very same idea, glad to see you making it a reality though.

With my other Northstar 31M, I’d just connect both in parallel and call it a day. You sir have a buyer.

Just a thought though, and this is just theory, so it probably doesn’t matter... modern Toyota power steering has certain pressure parameters to keep in check. I’ve wondered with longer hoses, if those would be messed with?

I did this a while ago :p
Just never got around to properly relocating the P/S resi.
Most universal Group 31 trays will fit there with a little massaging.
Did the longer hoses make any difference?

You'll definitely need longer P/S lines to get the reservoir in a decent place. I would get male-male connectors and just tap into the end of the original lines. Replacing the entire OEM rubber P/S lines would be a pain, but do-able.

I secured my reservoir in between the battery and the radiator without extending the rubber lines, certainly not the best way but it 'worked'. I didn't have a welder at the time to fab up a bracket but the location he put his is where I would have placed it.

I installed my Slee second tray yesterday. It's ok for an easy solution, but I'd really like to have a larger battery than the Group 35. Would really prefer at least a 34/78 since it has 2 sets of connections as well. Might have to do some fabbing, I think I can get one to fit and still have the P/S res next to the radiator.
