yes, they fit the 75 series
they were mostly used on the 4 door 75 series fire trucks ...

when i priced out the "kit" it was north of $6000, i don't remember the numbers any longer but i was tempted back in the day ...\maybe they didn't know about it or maybe toyota wouldn't release it to them.

just like the 79 series with removable top and drop down windshield ... Toyota won't sell it to the mines and yet it would be perfect for that application.

i have given up trying to understand the modern Toyota thinking processes.

I could never understand why Toyota Canada stopped selling the landcruiser in your country.

The local body builders were selling dual cab kits for around $6-7000 a few years back,I wish I had of grabbed one or even bought one from the auctions when they were selling the 79series dual cabs for $15k

i am guessing protectism, the big 3 didn't want the competition. also the sales market was very small.
i would love to see Toyota sell the 79 pickup here as well as the 76, i "feel" there would be a good market in a couple years since people i talk to (lifers to the big 3) are tired of the s*** being offered to them.
a simple one wire run diesel (1HZ) would be of great interest to the farmers. the simple HZJ76 would be of interest to the young families since it could haul the family around and no computors to leave them stranded.
the vehicles go up in price, the quality and reliability goes down. i can see the distaste that people are experiencing. i love my 1 wire run Cruisers.

But we already have the 13-14 mpg Tundra and the $70,000 - $80,000 Land Cruiser. Why would we want more. While I can't speak for the Canadians, we Americans NEED leather seats that are heated with lumbar support and move in 15 different directions, we NEED
satellite navigation and Bluetooth, we NEED a 13 mpg V8 ( not an efficient diesel whose pollution kills small children ) ,we NEED a steering wheel with enough buttons to remotely turn on the rear frig. and microwave ( even though you can no longer find the horn )..... Well you get the idea. :D

you missed the 13 airbags ... you love your family right? if you don't have numerous airbags then you are just a selfish individual that hates your family.

I am ashamed to admit I overlooked that. :)
My dad gave my older brother an AMC Gremlin when he turned 16 ( my dad thought it was a cool car .... My brother was embarrassed to be seen in it ). He wrecked it several months later and to this day I swear he did it on purpose because there were several pillows ( poor man's airbags ) found in the car.

the Gremiln was a cool car, a hoot to drive. although the Javelin was WAY cooler.

" The Gremlin was a cool car " .....You have officially lost all credibility with me. :D

Only ever seen one Gremlin here and a friend owned it. There were a few Javelins here but they died from a lack of parts

Kinda ironic considering AMC used parts from every manufacturing company in the free world to produce their automobiles. :D

First everyone is safety safety safety.
Secondly fat north Americans can't fit in a 76.
You see the new big 3 pickups are huge inside to accommodate fat people as north Americans keep growing in size. I would love to see some fat guys try and drive a 79 or a 76. They wouldn't fit.

Companies want it to be a pain in the ass to fix and so only their trained mechanics can work on it and you need their special oem parts. Protectionism.

Now I feel like I should lose some weight. :D
.....and lose several inches of height to drive my 70 Series. :)

Wayne its not ment to offend you, if you were 5,5 and 400lbs might be a different story if you were huge. Yet again you might not drive a cruiser. But hey it's personal preference. Ever seen that Texas storage wars? There is a crew of 4 HUGE guys with a camera view of them driving their 3500 mega cab ram. The thing with them in it has virtually no space. I would love to see the 4 of them in a 76. Better grease up!

I am 6"7 and fit no problem in my 75.

People would probably bitch about the 1hz being in a cruiser in north America if they drove like most people. Driving 150kms up hill trying to pass is a great way to skyrocket egts and cook something. Much like the tale of the 2l-t, I think so many people drove them too hard aka with their foot into them over fueling where your not going any faster than backing off on the skinny pedal. People would probably blame the engine and probably the 1hz for that matter for the fact that it's too slow. I am content driving the speed limit and going easy on it.

Instead people would probably cook an engine due to small brain size and not knowing about egts and blaming it on the engine when it was drivers error.

Just my thought, but I do think they should bring them in, they are arguably some of the best vehicles made. Our work trucks should be cruisers instead of f150s or ram 1500s
