I didn't get an email either, but the balance was charged so I'm sure the CB will be on my doorstep soon. Same thing happened with the headers, money came out, box showed up.:meh:

Woohoo!! Guess what I found on my front door!! A 40lb package!! Um... I wonder what is that!?

Well I went to the fine folks at DT today and got my cat-back installed. I would have thrown it on myself in the driveway, but Jamie gave me such a reasonable price and did it much quicker than I would have. Plus I was impatient, what can I say? :D

I'll just supplement my last brief write-up of the system now that its actually on my truck. I didn't snap any photos because I think Arotrhd had it pretty much covered.

Sound:

I drove the hour or so back to Oceanside from Corona and got a pretty good feel for how it sounds on the highway. I don't feel like it drones but some others may disagree. In stock form minor throttle inputs are generally imperceptible, but with the DT you know if your foot is on the throttle no matter how slight. When I sit at a stop light with the AC off my idle drops to the mid 500's after a few seconds and only at that point does it sound completely stock. There is no point in the RPM range that would cause you to raise your voice during a conversation if the windows are up.

I don't want to lead anyone into believing that it is not louder or that the change in volume is only slight. This is an exhaust with out a resonator. It is definitely louder. I think its great and I love the way it sounds. The note is smooth, clean and pretty deep for a 4.7L V8.

Performance gain:

Remember, I've got the headers already on there. The truck does have some more get up (although I'm sure some of that is a sort of placebo effect from that nice V8 noise also). WOT has never really been a joy in the landcruiser and it probably never will be, but there is definitely some more torque to be had on the low end. My wife who is used to driving our tuned and methanol injected 335i, described the cruiser as now being more "bimmer-y," so I guess that's a good thing.

Overall I'm very pleased with the exhaust and the price was certainly right. The service was excellent as well. Nick and Jamie are standup guys. I saw someone else's LX there, which I believe is the test vehicle for the newer generation headers, looks like they're making good progress with that. I'll be interested to find out what everyone else thinks of the exhausts once they start getting them all on.

Thanks for the write up. Are you able to take a sound clip from the inside of the truck while driving. I'm curious to know of the sound during cruising speeds.

Does anyone know if these include two new crush gaskets for where it connects to the mid pipes?

I'll take an in cabin sound clip with my phone next time I'm in it. No promises how well it will turn out though.

As for the gasket, the midpipes use the ring type gasket, not the type depicted below. I wasn't watching closely enough to recall if they replaced all the gaskets, unfortunately but I don't believe they deem it necessary if they are in decent condition.

Haven't got them install yet. Just open the box and check out my new toy. Here are few pics.:grinpimp:

No, there aren't any gaskets included. Kind of annoyed by that since I asked specifically if gaskets were included when I ordered. Looks like I'll be trying to source OEM gaskets tomorrow on my day off instead of installing the exhaust...

Does the OEM uses metal gasket? If so, we can reuse them right?

Toyotas that i have worked on have all used crush gaskets (except this one donut gasket in the FJC). All of these crush gaskets are one time use. Once they are crushed, you shouldn't use them again. You can, but you will more than likely have exhaust leaks at the flange. (read: i have always had exhaust leaks when i reused crush gaskets)

Its a little aggravating they don't supply 2 new gaskets.

Good to know! Thanks guys! Another good info from this forum! Off to dealership to pick up couple of gasket this week!

The headers didn't come with them, I wasn't expecting the Cat Back to have them either:meh: Didn't ask, didn't see it in the thread, already bought and added to the parts pile along with the header junk, waiting for Beno to get me my new O2 sensors;)

Hows the install going for everyone? Total time? Looking under the truck ... the mid-pipe is such an eyesore , compared to the new system...sigh. I wish DT would have came up with something

You mean the pipes with the cat?

Yep. Since Im going to need to replace my cats; Im ordering my Magnaflow cats and having Mesa Muffler make me a mid-pipe. Wish it could be a complete DT exhaust system, but these guys are great at what they do, and it will be all new!

Any pro-tips on getting the muffler studs off the f*#@king exhaust hangers?

Some type of rubber friendly lube and elbow grease. If you can get clearance, they drop easier pushing downward.
